I know there has been speculation on who will be attending Cook's 2013 Land Speed Shoot Out.
Are there firm commitments, besides Poteet and Main! Cars? Bikes?

I don't know how firm these are, but Mike hisself told us, back at SpeedWeek, that Charles Nearburg, George and Ron, the Nish family, and (I think it was) the Mormon Meteor will be there on the car side, along with Sam Wheeler, Denis Manning, and the Ack Attack for 'liner bikes. I believe that Max Lambky is going to attend also - but I don't remember if Mike mentioned his bike.
And then there were three sit-on bikers -- Kim and Greg from Australia and their US buddy/teammate, fireman Jim Higgins. I expect there'll be other racers there -- just don't know about 'em yet. I'll be there, that's for sure.

According to Mike Cook's FB page the Target 550 car WILL be at the Shootout, along with the Buckeye Bullet form Ohio State Univ. On sit on bikes there'll also be Al Lamb and Jamie Williams.
On that Facebook page Mike reminds one and all that having a CB radio will be an important thing for spectators, whether in the car or sitting in a chair. There are 5 minute "no movement on the salt" lockdowns before and after each run, and those are announced on the CB. Please have that CB with you - and use it.
I'm still waiting to hear from all of you - on whether I should try audio streaming from the Shootout. We've run into a bit of a hassle with the streaming in general - for WoS - but I think that'll be resolved. I am not sure about streaming the Shootout because there is SO-O-O Much dead air time sometimes that listeners will get bored and switch away and then miss a run. And I can't afford the time away from my duties as a pit steward and my keyboard (keeping folks up to date) to be a radio announcer that's not only talking to fill the dear air time, but also wandering and trying to get lively interviews with competitors and crews and officials and so on. So - shall I try it or not? I'm not promising - just taking votes.

Great news on T550 :)
I say focus on reporting and posting updates as they happen, and save live timing for more populated meets.

Honestly SSS, I'd love it if you could set-up the "LIVE" stream to simply broadcast the CB radio chatter. If my memory is correct, this was all that was done a couple of years ago and it was great. Us listeners were able to hear when they announced to lock down the course because teams were getting ready to head down to the mountain end of the course to make a run and then hear the car speed by in the background and the times announced through the measured miles. Good stuff!!! I enjoyed working in the office all day and being able to hear what was happening out on the salt. Quite frankly I'd be happy to just hear the CB chatter at Speed Week as well, rather the the ridiculous ramblings of that Harold fellow. So my vote is the broadcast what the racers and officials are hearing out on the salt.

Wow, what a stellar cast of machines :-D
Did the Vesco Turbinator II withdraw?
Thanks,
Dean

No doubt it's a typo, but really -- how apt: "Potent and Main" :-D :-D

Turbinator II will not run at the shoot out. Additional testing required and the fuel control valve is getting a upgrade to prevent compressor stall. A couple of other changes as well are in the works.
