The video seems to be loading for some, and not for others. This morning it loaded fine at my house. Now I cant get it to play on any of the computers here.

Great video!! Thank you for sharing it.

thanks Jess

Wow. Great video. I'm honored that I'm in that video around 2:54, in between shots of Bill. Very well done by Bill Green.
-
Looks like they will need to address those runway lights before the next event.

Wow. Thanks for posting. It was a great video...brought tears to my eyes.

VERY WELL PRESENTED...........I was surprised by the 'obstacle' light-base :?

Looks like they will need to address those runway lights before the next event.
If the runway was 90' wide I would say yes however I believe that runway is a lot wider...I don't see them (the owners) removing the lights and light platforms...then what, widen the airstrip even more?
-
I believe the runway is said to be 300 feet wide. Check out some of the pictures taken from the starting line.
Bill Green always does an awesome job. God speed, Bill.

All of those old BUFF runways are at least 12000 X 300 feet.
I would not expect those old lights to be removed, I think they still land aircraft in there.
That was a great piece and a nice tribute to Bill. Just reminds us all that it is racing and there is no guarantee of safety.
See ya on the salt 8-)

Not saying they need to be removed but perhaps they could put some more dirt around the bases so they are not sticking out of the ground so high? My feeling is we should always learn something when a tragedy happens.

A few posts back I read that the runway is still "active" -- that is, planes could use it if the need arose. I know when the local B52 base up here (K. I. Sawyer -- ask Stainless and John Boy about it) closed we asked about using the runway for LSR -- and were told that it was still active even if no one used it. If there's a big yellow "X" at each end -- that's to tell pilots they are not to use the runway. Does the Loring landing strip have the Xs? If so -0- it'd seem that the lights didn't have a function any more and could be considered ready to remove (even though I betcha it'd cost BIG BUCKS!). But if no yellow X - then it's still a runway first and an LSR strip second.
Anyone got better information than I have? Let s know.

Hi Slim
Heres an in car video from one of my runs taken at the event can anyone see a yellow X on the runway ?I ran to the mile and then just past the 1.5 marker I take the first turn off. Only ran 172 .6 at the mile with a flathead on this run!

The runway is used, not often, but it is used. When Telford was there (2002-2011?) they landed planes there, plus the blimp. I know on occasion Senators and such will land helicopters out there.
I would also assume the LDA (Loring Development) would have issue with something being removed from the runway since that would kill all marketing towards anyone using the runway.
And back on topic, I have watched this piece Bill Green did probably 15 times now. Brings tears to my eyes every single time, IMO a very well executed piece
