Ok so I have some fibred wheel bearing grease that I acquired from my Grandpa. Its black in color, and almost like a tar texture and stains clothes! (Grin)
I have been told that the old Fiber'd grease would get hot, and get thin when high speeds occurred.
I have also been told that, its the best stuff ever, hard to find, but very dependable as it does not allow the bearing to heat up as much, but was discontinued for health reasons.
So my question is, do I use this or go with new grease?

about 20 years ago somebody gave me a bar of Uncle Bob's or grandpas tar soap.
I threw it out a few years ago.
you might be better off running synthetic grease. or some type of more viscous lube.

Technology continues to advance while the old wives tales continue to endure. I'd go with technology. :-D :-D :-D

The stuff works good for low stress applications where it is important for it to stay put, like the rollers on garage doors and hinge pins on side opening house doors. I use it when the grease needs to say adhered to vertical surfaces.
