Title: Tenacious & the Tramp
Post by: Uncle Jimbo on April 13, 2013, 01:01:41 AM

Brother Lou and Bonnevillestories.com has done it again.  What a great sit down with a truly - cool guy - Dan Kinsey -

Dan Kinsey is a 7x land speed record holder.  He worked for years at S&S Cycles in Viola, Wisconsin, both as a machinist and performance tester. Early in his career, Dan tested and rode S&S Performance motorcycles as his day job.  The machines included gas and nitro methane ‘sit on’ bikes as well as a nitro burning streamliner.

Kinsey talks about the legends he worked with, including George Smith-both father and son, as well as Warner Riley and Denis Manning who were both legends in motorcycle land speed racing.   Illustrated with archival images and film footage, Dan talks about the thrills and hazards of racing on the Bonneville Salt Flats.
This is  history -

I think Tenacious is at the AMA Hall of Fame Museum & Tramp III is at the S&S museum in Viola Wisc.

Glad you enjoyed the video. Dan "Boone" is truly a nice guy -

I especially appreciate the portion of the video where Lou mentions that he has seen Dan in the pits helping multiple riders,
because last year while I was working in tech. he came by our pit with a few others, and helped my 19 yr. old son repair the transmission in our Sportster.
And, did so quite willingly; while making sure my son watched and learned.
Aside from being a great machinist, engine builder, and rider, he is a prince of a man.
If you happen to read this Dan...THANKS AGAIN SO MUCH!  :-)

I think Tenacious is at the AMA Hall of Fame Museum & Tramp III is at the S&S museum in Viola Wisc.

I stand somewhat corrected on locations.  Tenacious II is at the AMA Hall of Fame Museum. It is the mcy that Rocky Robinson did 297 at Lake Gardner Australia.
Still the fastest mcy south of the Equator I think.  The original Tenacious that Dan piloted & the Tramp III are at the S&S Museum in Viola Wisc. Along with Warner Riley's 212 Nitro Express bike and several other very special motorcycles.
If you get a chance - get to Viola Wisc.  -  see close up the S&S facility and museum.
