I have 3-5# bottles with the halon 1301 I am replacing this year.
Is there someone that reclaims the stuff or do I discharge the bottles while chasing the dog to get 'em running for a few yucks?
Just wondering....

I would contact your local fire extinguisher company as they will be able to recycle the Halon.

I sold mine on EBay

I have 3 ten pound bottles of 1301 that can no longer be certified. I use them as a fire system in the shop. Not automatic, but perhaps could do some good. 3 different locations with 3 separate escape routes.

Don't use them. The effect of Halon 1301 in the atmosphere is well documented. The detrimental effects last for a very long time.
Sell it to a halon recycler.
Halon Recycling Corporation. HRC provides guidelines and procedures for a self determination of critical halon use.

JNuts, you can bring them to the reunion and I will ship them home. Can always use a good shop fire extinguisher

Dean- thanks for the link to HRC. As I read their page about EPA restrictions, I couldn't find an actual prohibition against using Halon to extinguish a fire. Comments?

There is no restriction against usage. Current systems are allowed. The problem comes on recertification or refill.
