Can I assume that if I have passed tech at Speedweek that I can pass tech at the Ohio Mile?

Seriously, though, the ECTA rulebook mirrors the SCTA. If you pass tech at Speedweek, you should have no problem passing at the Ohio Mile.

Hi Jerry
Tech inspection at Wilmington is similar to Speedweek but with a much slower and calming pace. Im sure your coupe will pass with no problem. Inspection takes place on Friday and Saturday. Call me I can help with any details Im one of the inspectors for cars.

If the ECTA follows the SCTA rulebook then these sentences from section 1.A would apply:
"Race vehicles, components or equipment are not considered approved or compliant by reason of having passed through technical inspection at any time, or any number of times. Moreover, a vehicle which has passed technical inspection at any time or any number of times is not a defense to a violation found on further inspections."

It's in the ECTA '12 Rulebook worded the same, last paragraph of Rule 1.A Technical Inspection, on pages 9 and 10.

I was really asking if there are any unique rules at the Ohio Mile. I've found out from experience that every tech inspector can find something that I missed.

A Speedweek Tech Inspection Sticker shortens the amount of time spent inspecting your vehicle, just like it does at El Mirage.

I would hope that is NOT true. An inspectors job is the review the previous inspection for notes for items to be done by next inspection and go through the new check list for compliance.

We look at everything.That is not to say that something may not get by us,but we are trying to protect racers so there are double and triple checks.

A previous inspection wouldn't cover any subsequent modificatons either.

my biggest fear was to fail tech.
however, after reading the rulebook 1000+ times asking any and all questions here on the forum, making calls to both joe and todd. we passed with flying colors. remember this was our first time doing any LSR racing. everyone was very helpfull. everything was exsplained.
at our second race the inspector went threw the bike as if it was never there before. again we passed.
its funny the second inspector was the guy that guided me threw the chainguard fabrication, on the forum.

I believe there are slight variants in the brakes rules, i think you need 4 of them, and possibly suspension. I'm not familiar with the SCTA book though. When you get your membership and rule book just do a quick compare. They are VERY similar but NOT the same. I don't care if you passed tech with NASA I make sure I check everything. The biggest violation I find is holes in the fire wall. i'm generally a little younger and more flexible to get my head under the dash and look around so its easier for me to find the holes. :evil:

Ain't touching that one..... I take a supply of "fire proof putty" to every meet. look us up is someone has a small hole that needs plugged. seriously. :-)

My point is, and as I've experienced, the initial inspection is long and there are a bunch of questions, notations are made in the logbook and stickers issued. subsequent inspections consist of a review of the logbook, questions about any modifications since the last inspection? if yes then further examination proceeds. Expiration dates are checked etc.
they don't crawl under and check my driveshaft loop, scatter shield, fuel line shielding, fire nozzle position and number, axle retainers, and a whole host of items.
In preparation for my first inspection I downloaded the Car inspection sheet from the SCTA Site

and checked them off like and inspector and made notes of where in my manuals and docs that items were documented (axle retainers).

At ECTA Tech, we check EVERYTHING EVERY TIME especially if your car is extremely fast. People get in a hurry, they forget stuff, i've seen inspectors have items fixed and the cars have an incident and that fix had an impact in the outcome. So we ALWAYS check. :cheers:
