Bob dug into the Java situation and made some comments, and then I asked him for a bit of interpretation -- and that's posted, too. Go ahead and read both and decide what you want to do.

I un-disabled Java -- but with the knowledge of what MIGHT happen. Also, though, I'm taking a chance that things will be okay because I use Apple, not Wintel computers. And also because I hope that nothing nasty will happen. How's that for a good line of reasoning?

Lots of other good chat software to choose from. After seeing Rob, Charles, myself and others repeatedly get locked up or booted I am dont with the hassle, the last three weeks were very disappointing. :-( :x

Uninstall your current Java, restart your PC, download and install the current version. Open IE, go into "Internet options" and delete 100% of your history. Restart again and hopefully you're good to go, or at least way better off.

I still get a few Javascript errors every time I log in but other than that, I'm golden (now).

Post by: Seldom Seen Slim on February 01, 2013, 05:59:12 PM: I've asked Bob to look around for a different chat software package - one that doesn't use Java. He and I are sorta afraid that we won't find one, so if you know of such a critter -- please let us know.

Bob's words: "I can look. Something like a chat room (I just have a feeling here) would more than likely need Java, as it's used for interactive stuff. Want me to look?" And that's where I said yes. Then he wrote back with: "Okeedokee. This'll be something new."

As it stands - we'll have fewer people on Tuesday evenings. because some are dropping out because they've taken the Java out of their web browser - and therefore can't use the Chat line.

So - we're trying to find something. Stay tuned, and again -- if you know of a chat that will avoid the Java germs, please get in touch with him or me. Thanks.

I took 'em about 45 minutes ago - as Nancy and I were heading to the hot tub, out in the back porch. The porch is roofed and screened, and we not only have the hot tub out there but also the gas grill. First photo is with the cover still closed, the second is after I'd opened it. No, Nancy is NOT in either photo. If she were the chat line might be pretty much a one-topic talkathon tonight, hey? Anyway, take a close look at the pictures and tell me how far away spring is - in your honored opinion.

7PM MTN on Tuesday nights, click on the link at the beginning of this thread or the landracing.com home page. Folks start rolling in a little before 7 at times. It is a real-time chatroom.

I went back out and tweaked a couple things on the front end. Now it is back to finishing the diagonals.

Utah is actually increasing the speed limit from Exit 99 (Tooele) to the state line; now you can run 80 with no fear.
That is, if the signs are posted.
Won't save a lot of time, but a few minutes here and there can add up.

I drive I-15 and I-80 and there are sections that seem narrow for those speeds, A lot of 18 wheelers do it but they have a lot more braking power then most hot rod trailers, I tow my travel trailer at 65 MPH and not much time lost at that speed, leave a little earlier.

I tried to get on, honest I did :-). I got a "this plugin is disabled". I can't figure out which one. I thought it used Java so installed the latest version. Then also did the same with Quick Time. Still no luck and by then it was about 8 pm.

I thought I got on about a month ago during the daytime just to see if I could and I was able to as I remember but that isn't saying much. What does need to be installed to make it work? I use Firefox,

Jon there is no problem for those using Firefox and Java that have been able to make the adjustments to make them work. I feel there are some that maybe haven't been able to do those steps, since they aren't real intuitive, that might like to join the chat but haven't been able to. Anyone with that problem?
