Title: Passing of Ed Hegarty
Post by: maguromic on December 21, 2012, 02:35:01 AM
Ed Hegarty passed away this afternoon after a courageous battle with cancer.  I use to stop by his junkyard on the way to Sears Point and he always had the time to show me all the cool things he was doing on his stream liner or the Miller Indy car . A fellow aficionado of inline engines he danced to a different drummer. RIP Ed.  Tony

Tony, the passing of a friend is always hard.... our thoughts and prayers are with Ed's family and friends.

Ed became a member of the Bonneville 200 MPH club in 1996. His Airflow coupe was always a popular car with the spectators and competitors alike.

God Speed,
DW

I inspected the airflow coupe on at least one occasion.....I asked Ed if it wasn't really a 1934 PT Cruiser.... or at least Chrysler's inspiration for the PT Cruiser's body design..... he said that he thought it probably was.....

Ed.... I am going to miss you..... and.... see you on the other side.

When the XO Vintage classes came about in 1974 Ed and Dave came out as well as I did to run the classes. We met and became friends. Lossing Ed was again our loss...........JD
