Hi gurus, just starting my addiction. building a 1969 Anglia 105e powered by a nissan sr20det (2.0 liter). it's a turbo rear wheel drive set up. Mine is the ugly yellow one....aiming for the handsome brown one. Seems, to my un-initiated eye, to fit in the g - blown gas coupe category. does this seem right?.....will it also fit somewhere else? Thanks for your help.

Hmm... Wiki tells me that the 'Anglia' name was used up through 1967...

hmmmm...I see that too. Mine is a left hand drive Canadian car (1969)......just to muddy the wiki waters........ glad I'm asking the question here, now that I revisit the rule book (BGC) rules I'm more lost......the car is a ford (domestic...sort of).....but pre 82.....so where the heck does it fit.....mucho grey zone!

Where are you? That looks suspiciously like an Alberta plate on the trailer. Our esteemed leader, Jon, will be asking you to add that to your registration.
If you're looking to be competitive that configuration may not be a good choice. If you're in the Calgary area I may be able to help you find a direction.

Pre-1982 can put you in Classic, say G/CBG___, but an
EFI setup will get you right back into /BG__. Ru a blow thru
setup, stay in Classic and run on an open record!
G/BGC record is 203.xxx, BTW. G/CBGC is 000.xxx :-D

I plan on getting my feet wet with blow through myself this year---that as a classic would be interesting to follow

My Anglia 105E over here in the UK was made from one of the last three factory supplied bodyshells after Ford Motor Company moved on to the Escort. I used an unblown Lotus Twin Cam when I took it off the road in the late '70's. Never used for record breaking.
Maybe the engine starting point should be from the range of Ford engines which might be appropriate as the non-swap option for production based class? (My guess is there is no motor in your 'yellow peril' and you have a Nissan).
Whatever, there will be those who will mention the lack of rear aero stability off the notchback and the relatively short wheel base and ........ well you get the picture. FoMoCo parts in the 'classic' aftermarket would allow options to go fast, break less parts and have a lot of fun, without wholesale chassis changes.

Thanks everyone, I have to say it's very nice to wake up to answers from a helpful group of racers.
I am in Calgary Pete and will take you up on any advice/direction you can offer, thanks. I got to see, and sit in (that didn't help the addiction), Gord D's blue stude: #653, through the weekend. He was the one who aimed me here to get started....and graciously fed me German beer.
Malcolm UK is correct (and has a cool car): his Quote - "(My guess is there is no motor in your 'yellow peril' and you have a Nissan)."...... True; the Nissan engine set up will get 300hp to the wheels with a ton of reliability (further tunable to 400hp). seems like a good place to start.
Car choice; Hmmmmmmm......I never aspired to an Anglia 105e specifically, but now that I own the car and have been learning about the long racing pedigree of them, I really like it.....and.....I can't find mention on any of the LSR web sites or archives of a 105e having run at Bonneville, so that "road less traveled" part appeals to me as well.
That being said; I don't want to set myself up for frustration....or death, chasing the class record g/cbg (203mph) in the totally wrong car. but, Redhotracing's idea of.... E/cbgc (153mph) or f/cbgc (174mph) seems like a solid attainable goal.
(Redhotracing) suggests a blow through set up and to run on an open record. Can someone explain what blow through means and how does it work to run on an open record (g/cbgc)
Thanks for your patience with the newbie questions...there will be a lot more, and I promise to pay it forward when I can.

"Blow through" means the supercharge is before the carburetor, and suck through is the the blower is after the carb. Both have requirements and flaws and advantages.

An open record- no one has set a record in that class, this 'open'.
Blow through is using a supercharger or turbo to 'blow through'
a carb, as opposed to the same with electronic fuel injection. It
is allowed in Classic, whereas EFI is not.
Draw through is carb before power adder.

The new for 2013 rules have added engine classes of G, H, J & I to the Classic Category classes. The existing records in the Modified Category classes have yet to be be moved over. What that means is, if there is an existing record in the Modified Category classes held by a car that is now legal for Classic Category that record will be moved. Otherwise, if no record exisits it is open, 0.000 MPH.
Two consectutive runs will net a record at any speed.
