Blues Brothers Class (but with a less collectable bodystyle):
Vehicle must be a 1991+ Crown Vic. Used Police and Taxis only, proof of past owner required.
Any pushrod engine up to 5.8L or OHC engine to 5.1L.
91 Octane only.
No nitrous, supercharging, etc.
3 Speed *or more) automatic trans only.
No quickchange or GV.
W,Y or (Y) tires only. Must have legal amount tread.
A 4x4 (3.5") must pass under car at any point.
Car must be street legal with all working lights and OEM side mirrors.
5,000 max raceweight. (naked is 4000 OEM).
This is not serious, but I just wondered how you'd cap spending, and still go pretty fast safely on 4 wheels. Antiques are $$$, Classics are $$, and homebuilt is $$$$.
The car model is proven safe with lots of crash data and airbags, and automatic fuel shutoff. Car is hard to flip (yeah, I tried before, it slides) and built like a Panzer with modern aero and excellent brakes.

Have you tried to purchase a used Crown Vic Interceptor? They're still demanding a premium here in Beerhaven. Half of the old Milwaukee squad cruisers are now doing service as Taxis in Chicago.
They do make great tow vehicles. Keep the cow catcher, and you've got a push vehicle!

You can remove the lightbar and searchlight, but must keep the shotgun. It make tech go faster. :evil:
The Black and White paint is suggested but optional. It makes it easier to see since every hotrodder has a gene in their DNA that evokes high anxiety when exposed to Black and White objects.
I've seen them go for under $2500 here. When you look at cars under $2500 today, you don't get a lot for your $. Most "economy" cars are over $15,000. Real cars are over $25k now.

DOH! 1992+. The 1992 was released as a mid-year in March 1991, but listed as a 92.
With Dodge selling a lot of PD 4-doors now, the market should be flooded soon.

Justa, don't want to spoil the fun but we already have that class at the September meet. You could spur class interest by offering a trophy, although I think you should include the Caprice and limit it to the 90s only, too much aero in the new CVs.
With the probability of sagging springs, I think the 4x4 rule should be reviewed. :-D

Add 0.1 mph for each donut you bring?
No lightbar since they are expensive and are stripped off the car prior to sale.
4x4 rules is to insure it really is street capable. 3.5" is pretty low.
Yeah, probably PD Caprices that are the rounded design should be included.

Yep.... it is cleverly disguised as the 130 club.... just like the 36 HP VW group you can form your own competition within the club rules. The max speed limit is 139 ish, but I doubt that will be an issue... although the first car that gets thrown out for being too fast could automatically be the class winner.

Back in the old days, about a hundred years or so ago, I sold fleet and commercial vehicles in a Ford dealership. The Michigan State Police has devised a good testing routine for cars they might use - and that guideline has been adopted by many states and localities. It made selling cars easier since every potential buyer would come to us inclined to buy the Ford.
As for trade-in value -- there are a few companies out there that buy used cop cars and refurbish them for sale back to the private world - either as taxicabs, where the HD stuff in the car makes them great for taxi, and also for police agencies that can't afford to buy a new car but want a Crown Vic or whatever for their po-lice. Those resale companies usually have a book rate that they'll pay for the car(s), and that rate varies only a little bit depending on mileage. Those companies, therefore, are usually the ones that make it more expensive (?) for you and me to buy a used police vehicle.
Oh, yeah -- at the salt there was a Mazda running with the livery of the Redondo Beach police. The car had the light bar and all of that in the pits, but I think it was removed for runs. Let's see -- maybe that car was a confiscated vehicle and was built up by the officers to show kids that there are other youth hobbies - other than drugs, pimping, and stealing, that is.

I drove one that would probably top 139 up top, but around a racetrack. It was a demo car for gov't buyers in AZ in ~2002? They put the DOHC Cobra engine in it, exhaust, intake, bigger brakes, bigger tires, shocks, sways, etc. It looked OEM. Don't know what ever happened to that project. I think Ford was involved, but don't know to what extent and to what purpose. I think the 4BC Camaro won whatever it was built for. 4BC Camaro = Pursuit Camaro. Also used by the CIA/USAF as spotters for U-2 landings.
Dunno. That was a while ago, and I was doing other stuff also that day.
Edit - That's B4C option code. It has the 1LE suspension but the automagic trans instead. Slightly collectable. This would be illegal. It will go 155mph with the factory tune (speed limited).

Yeah, I drive by one also. Somebody in our neighborhood bought a PD Crown Vic a few days ago, and parks it on the street. Kind of like a scarecrow? Dunno. Great idea though...

Used to (way over 7 years ago) drive cars for a "used car dealer" to the auctions. Sometimes we had to drive with oven mits on.
