Was there any racing today or was it too windy? Any run reports?
-
There was some racing as Rick Yacoucci reported on his FB page that he ran 258 mph on a 240 mph record and was also the fastest car of the year at el mirage
-
John Beck just said they broke a drive shaft about the 1/2 mile today. Bummer for sure.
-
Rick Y. just ran another 258 mph so far top speed of the meet and year.

Yep, after a scary start - rain and wind on Friday - it turned out to be a bitchin' meet.
We made 5 runs.
Can hardly wait 'til May . . .

Rick really laid down two awesome runs!

Any word on Wayno's flatty tank? Heard he was having a fuel delivery issue on Saturday,
-
Jack Costella and his record breaking streamliner and Rommel the old push truck. 258 and change for the fastest time this season. Way to go Jack, Rick and crew!
-
My brother ryan lefevers has gained entry into the el mirage 200mph club, with a speed of 216.503 :-D
-
Congrats to all! I wanted to show as a spectator, but had to be in Texas at 8:00am Saturday to pickup parts in my truck. 80 mph posted limit, even at night, even towing. Love it.
Any more data on the electric entries?

Thanks Tim.
First of all I have to thank the SCTA for the years of providing this wonderful and unique sport of Dry Lake racing.
I must also thank the present crew and the many people who have helped on #788, it would be a big list!
To Rick Yacoucci and Mike Waters, my hard working and talented partners, you have all the admiration and thanks I can give!
You both made the 2012 season a great year for all of us!
Thanks again. Jack Costella

Just a Racer,
I'm Jim Hoogerhyde and I rode the Electric APS bike for Lightning Motorcycles this last weekend. We had a great weekend introducing about fifteen people to land speed racing and bumping the record to 189mph. Kent looked like he was having some bad luck and some gremlins and I don't think they made a run under full power. Personally, it was a pleasure to finally ride the Lightning bike and I thought it was really cool that we used solar power to recharge the batteries after the runs. The bike would have used about .07 cents of electricity if we bought it from a utility and my normal bike uses about 20 bucks in gas!
See you next year,
Jim

Thanks for the update! Congrats on the run.
DC brush, DC brushless, or AC traction motor? LiFePO4 or LiPo?
Now I'm really sad I had to work. :-(
Would have loved to see it.

I'm looking forward to seeing some of the video footage. You would have seen it but I don't think you would have heard it! Except for the horn which I did beep a few times just for fun.

Waiting for results and points.

Glen (and everyone): I just mnow posted Dan Warner's report on the November '12 EM event. Dan got it to me yesterday - and I therefore apologise for not getting it on the home page of landracing.com sooner. Read it and you'll get some speeds and names.

Thanks for the write-up Dan and for posting it Slim!
