NOVEMBER EL MIRAGE SEASON FINAL SCHEDULE ?
Tech is on Friday, correct ?
I scrolled through the SCTA site El Mirage proc.
Thanks
-
Tech inspection is on friday. Usually starts around 11ish, "when all the trailers get towed out." Course clean up starts at 4pm I believe, do to the time change. On saturday there will be a patrol meeting at 7 or 715am I forget, and a mandatory drivers meeting at 730am. Hope to see you there.
-
Remember, a Milers' job is setting up the cones on the tower side on Friday, Jeff!
:-D
See you there,
Willi
-
And rookie orientation is at 3, not 4, right Jeff?
-
Thanks guys.
I'm burnin the late night oil, getting ready.
Busy, busy fall!
For my future reference, where is the schedule for this meet?
I could not find it on the SCTA site.
-

THATS RIGHT Nathan ! ha ha
Makes me want to bring a rookie, just so I could get it right this time !
-
Don't know about a "schedule" - tech pretty much all day Friday, or Saturday morning, course walk Fri/Sat @ 4pm, racing starts right after the 7:30am driver's meeting on Saturday and Sunday.
You'll probably have a line-up number in the high 160s.
Keep on keeping on, Jeff - we just installed a fresh bullet in the "Low Sodium" Roadster today and are going to be pretty busy for the rest of the week, too!

The schedule is in the El Mirage Procedures

We'll get out there fri afternoon for tech (by noon), I think they tech until 4pm? Drivers meeting at 7:30am Sat, racing starts after that, 8-ish. We're starting 52nd so hopefully we can get a early run in . And if my poor lil bike holds together we'll do it all again Sunday! And its supposed to be a cold mofo this weekend so dress warm.

If nothing changes, ill me making my first trek as a spectator to El Mirage Friday morning. I know there wont any runs made on Friday but im hoping to see some of the cars going through inspection. Will be nice to see them up close to see what all goes into them. Really looking foward to it. Hope to meet some of you folks while Im there.

My first trip to El Mirage was a religious experience.
That's where it all started and it served well until access to B'ville was made available.
In some peoples minds the lakes took a back seat to the salt but 'taint true.
Lakes racing is in our heritage.
Dedicated racers run the lakes.

I will make my first appearance Saturday morning. Staying Friday night in Victorville so will be there no matter what.... Looking forward to it as this was my first year in five that I missed the salt flats.

Well said Freud.
I know there is a fee to get into the lake bed bit does SCTA charge for the event itself? This is going to be my first LSR and wasn't quite sure.
-
Frankie, no charge from SCTA. See you there. Wayno
-
Thanks for the info Wayno! Safe travels to you!
-
does SCTA charge for the event itself?
No charge from SCTA, but be sure to budget money for the SCTA sales trailer.
You do need a hat and a t-shirt, don't you?

didn't get the motors together in time to go-have to wait for May. How is the wind today?
-
Temp @ 9:35 44 degs. wind from the west @ 22 mph. be careful racers.
-
Hoping you can get some runs in today, although tomorrow's forecast looks a lot less windy. Thank goodness for 2-day events.
Wayno - put some dust under your tank!
-
The wind mustn't be too bad at times as I saw Rick Yacoucci post today this on his FB page "We just ran 258 mph on a 240 mph record also fastest car of the year at el mirage" I just wish I had made it over there this weekend as I had planned, that woulda been cool to see. Guess Ill have to wait till May to get my first intro to the dirt

Glenn, that place is so special. I would have never had built a car if not for my trip to Elmo with my father in '93.
Religious? Perhaps. Spiritual? ABSOUTELY.
Got off the blower with Wano about an hour ago. He had a fuel pump issue he was thrashing on, so I suspect my call was . . . shall we say, poorly timed.
Best of luck on Sunday to EVERYONE!

The SCTA managed to put on a great first day for the Nov. meet. Got two rounds in with windy and COLD being the word for the day, the wind being a bit of the El Mirage HP so many are fond of.
Many records set (20+?), Davidson 234, Van Scoy 213, Noonan 250, White goose 180, Lattn, McMillan, Cohn, al set recordstoo. A personal hooray to my son Ryan for putting it all together and running 216 getting him into the "Dirty 2" club. Now both my boys are in the El Mirage 200 mph club!
Back for more tomorrow........

Im kinda thinking thats how its going to be for me. When I went to Indy 8 years ago for the 50th US Nationals I thought that was something special. I can only imagine what its going to feel like in May going to El Mirage. That and if all goes well and I make it to the World Finals next October

If I were going faster, mistakes like that would be understandable.
I’m not, therefore I have no excuse.
