Title: First time over 200!!!
Post by: jeffb on August 28, 2012, 10:26:30 PM
Didn't really expect it to happen today, but i was able to push my mps-pg 3000 to 201 on the down run.  The return was very slippery and could only get 189 out of it. 195 record   Still one one he fastest pushrods gas bikes out there so I am happy.  The salt should be better tomorrow.

Congrats Jeff.  Will you be running at WoS 2012?

yes, we are coming back for WOS.  Going to head home, do laundry, wash the bike, add every chunk of steel and lead I have and come back.

Today I ran 195 and 192.  I can't get the bike to hook up and it is all over the place on the track.  The salt isn't great.  Hopefully it will dry and get packed down by WOS.

 :-o !?!?!

That's a helluva hike on a 10 day turnaround!

I can stomach I-80 through Nebraska only once a year.

3 trips across NE so far.  I'm going to St. George to see Glen and the Vesco shop, then home via I-40, look at a chassis in Tulsa, then back to the absolute hell on earth of my usual life when I'm not on the salt.

I ran 192.9 down this morning open!!  I never thought it would go that fast open.  I still can't believe it.  I think I hurt the engine though so it only went 185 on the return.  We are packed up and headed home.

To misquote Pork Pie, it's not how you go into the air but how you come out of it.  I found Jeff's run fantastic, but not unexpected.  Keep it up at WoS, this bike is so cool.  (Former Buell S2 owner, myself).

This is the anything Landspeed site, :?,,,,we talk `bout achievments here, but, go elseware to have a look at what it is we enjoy an are talkin about,  ,,

not everyone can access Facebook, me included,, :-(

Moxnix, dont worry about the fact that you have to upload from a "antique digital camera", we all have one of those,, the majority couldnt care less about "the perfect shot", just would like to have that connection that a photo can provide,,

Nice goin Jeff.  It was quite a thrill for the Riley, Fischer & Witt Gray Ghost ll project to be pit with you guys, and thanks for the help when we needed it.  S&S kicked booty this week, & was big time fun for us too - 170.55 naked Sportster.  Looking forward to Wilmington now.
Thanks again for the help - The S&S Viola team ROCKS !

Gray Ghost, everyone with 4 underhead camshafts and bumpsticks needs a Warner Riley around, your numbers really caught my attention.

Stay'tee, I left the other (newer) camera on the workbench in my garage.  I tossed the SUV looking for it and gave myself a double facepalm as penance.  Shame, really, I like posting from tracks.

That would be me as pilot Larry, with Warner as our crew chief. Plus the muscle supplied by an S&S 100 cu. in. Super Stock engine that can be had by checking the S&S catalogs. M-PG  1650   There is no doubt in my mind about the quality and endurance of these S&S Proven Performance Products.  Even though there was some high drama on our last return run - ala a dead battery at the 5 mi. return start. It was like the Cavalry coming to the rescue when Jeff B. and his crew came by to help get us started again. The entire S&S crew from Viola are class acts, my hat is off to them all.
Congrats to you and the crew Jeff, on your achievments this last week.

I finally saw that Jim but I couldn't edit my post. Don't think I'll be buying a complete motor from S+S anytime. They called to ask me how I was making so much power. Congrats on your runs. What did you end up with for a record?

Now you have my curiousity running Larry -  So what did you tell them ?  And if I may ask - how much h p did you generate ?
Final runs 2 way average -  169.627
Babs & I are still on the way home, takes a couple days for us.

I told them they need to come out here so we can talk. On the dyno we made a 4th gear pull to 5k and made 132hp IIRC. Then later a 5th gear pull to 6k and made 136 IIRC. After burning a valve on the first run at Speedweek we ended up with a 169.975 record for 1350 A-PG. Gonna make a couple more runs this year at Elmo and then go thru it for next year.

My vote for the hippest couple in LSR, Erin and Andy.

The Electric sidecar team.

The Radio Free BUB 2012 announcers and Horst, another friendly photographer from Germany.

WOOOOOOPS!!  Wrong thread.  I'll come back in a few hours and post S&S photos here, BUB photos elsewhere.  Maybe in the wrong thread again, but we'll see what can be managed.

Hi Jeff,
Congratulations on your fast week at the BUB meet.
Best of luck at WOS, and I look forward hearing updates.
You are very fortunate to be involved with a Company that employs
such a great bunch of guys who all have the
same high level of enthuiasm for Big V-Twin Speed!

Go Fast  :-o, and be careful  :-D.

See ya soon

Here's a link to a video from my 201 run.  I wish they all were this smooth.  The others are much more exciting...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-pskMBHwt4&feature=g-upl

This event was a once in a lifetime deal.  To be at Bonneville with George Smith, Dan Kinsey, Warner and all the other wonderful people was incredible.  I wish I could have gotten a record over 200, but it wasn't meant to be.  Maybe next week.

I was going to wait until after next week, but this is a good place to thank George, Steve Iggins and everyone at S&S.  I couldn't have had the bike ready and ready to run without their help this year.  I hope I made them proud and represented the company well.

The bike is torn down at the moment.  I thought I might have scuffed a piston, but everything looks fine.  It goes back together tomorrow and I am going to add as much steel and lead as I can before heading to WOS this week.

Jeff
