I have a Grizzly for sale that ran Bonneville in 1981 at 151 mph, powered a 2.0 VW. It has changed very little since than. It has aluminum skin over a tube chassis. Other than the VW engine and swing axle it uses no other VW suspension parts. I'm asking $3,500 for the single seater and will send photos. 760-948-4492. I'm in Hesperia CA. I am selling the car, while the two-port VW and transaxle goes with the car I can't say what condition they are in but the engine turns freely. It is lacking a starter, shroud and some other parts to fire. There is a special class for VW powered cars at Bonneville. This would make a great entry level racer.

What is a Grizzly?

Yeah, what's a Grizzly (besides a bear?) You will get more interest if you give more details. Post photos. Tell us what event at Bonneville this runs and what class.

I think it's a dune buggy that ran at Elmo a few years ago as a lakester.

They were dune buggy's built by Mike Griswold that mainly ran Pikes Peak in the dune buggy class, though I think he did build one for the salt also. Tony

Yes that is the car. It was never built as a dune buggy you can barely get your finger between the ground and the nose of the car. I am the owner and while I wanted to run the car it's not in the cards.

I read the name grizzly and wondered how it was powered by a VW... the ones I recall had Cummins diesels.... but not the same vehicle....
I immediately thought it would be a peickup truck built in Vancouver Canada....

Is this car still for sale? Interested
