Good video thanks. When I was in Germany we were going to a museum and what did I see when I walked through the door ? the Blue Flame Car !! They had a good display and video going of the Bonneville salt flats. It was awesome ! Also a big sign saying 1002 or something kilometers !

Lots of history Mayoman! Thanks for putting that together and posting it! Best 26:40 of the day!
I also saw the Blue Flame in Germany but I saw the Proto tool truck on the salt my first trip to Bonneville in 1970! :-D

Yeah, the Sinsheim museum still has it wrong. The PR guys were in a hurry to get the land speed record story out and publicized the mile record (622.407mph) which is 1,002kph. The WORLD land speed record was actually the kilometer record (630.388mph) which is 1,014kph and change. The FIA official timing sheets are attached (I hope). The kilometer record wasn't broken until 1997 when Andy Green blew it away.

Yeah, and I'm living only 20 miles away from Sinsheim....when I got visitor at my place with the interest in Speed I'm going to Sinsheim......also I have the luck to get a special service from the Museum...they let me go with my visitor on the podest direct to the car instead of standing away and seeing the Blue Flame from the distance........

Where is the car now ? is it still there ?
-
The Blue Flame is still a feature attraction in the motor vehicle section of the Auto und Technik Museum in Sinsheim.
It's worth a trip to see this facility. It's really huge and takes several days to really see most of it. Planes, trains, and automobiles, all there.

Made in Milwaukee.

I finally got the American Gas Associaton to give me the rights to post the 13 minute film, Break The Record, covering The Blue Flame's world land speed record in 1970.
Too bad the film only shows the mile record speed. The world land speed record was the kilometer record of 630.388 miles per hour.
Check it out on YouTube.

What a good idea you had MAYOMAN, to take your camera with you that day. Thank you very much.

he American Oil and Gas Historical Society asked me to narrate the Speedquest video on Youtube.
Find it at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PFEnzhP9Y4&feature=youtu.be
It is now titled SPEEDQUEST SPEAKS. It answers a lot of questions not apparent with only the musical soundtrack.
Also, go to www.aoghs.org for some interesting stories on the history of the petrochemical industry in the USA.
