I worked for Carroll for about 4 years. He always was very nice to me. I worked on his personal cars and special projects at Shelby American for Ford. Because of Carroll I was able to meet and learn from some of the smartest people in the auto industries. Also got to meet, shake hands and bench race with King Hussein of Jordan. Not many jobs were you can go home and tell your wife you were invited to lunch by a King. LOL
RIP Carroll

On my computer desktop is a picture of two Austin Healey specials on the salt. Posing with them are Donald Healey, Roy Jackson-Moore, and Carroll Shelby. Roy was in attendance in 2009 when the Healey Replicas came over from Oz, and it was hoped that Mr. Shelby might join them. Didn't happen.
To the friends, colleagues and family of Carroll Shelby, my sympathies.

RIP Mr. Shelby. This is another sad day in racing history, as we have lost another legend.
-
The days are getting fewer and fewer for the pioneers and heroes of motorsports. Shake their hands and get an autograph and a photo with them while you can because they might not be there for another opportunity. Godspeed Mr. Shelby.

Is that rumble from heaven distant thunder or a Cobra?

The sport car and racing world will sure miss him, I met him in Orange County at his shop, I bought my Goodyear front runner racing tires from him, this was about 8 years ago and he spent about 2 hrs each day at his shop office,we will miss him!! Congratulations on his great career!!

A man who will be mourned on both sides of the Atlantic. His records and vehicle creations will live on.

Slim:
You might want to merge this thread with the earlier thread that did not mention Carroll Shelby by name in the title resulting it two threads on the same event.
http://www.landracing.com/forum/index.php/topic,11235.msg190884.html
This thread has a more descriptive title.

RIP Mr. Shelby. He is up there racing with the other greats!

Interesting sidenote. He was the longest living heart transplant patient in the world, got his ticker in 1990. Stubborn SOB!

And in those 22 years, his work for the Carroll Shelby foundation helped raise a lot of funding for childhood disease.
I think it's appropriate that we acknowledge the unknown family whose tragedy granted Mr. Shelby the opportunity to become one of the great philanthropists of our time.
We don't know who you are, but thank you.
