Title: Motorcycle gauge replacement.

Hey, all,

I am looking to replace the gauges on my motorcycle from analogue to digital. Speedo, tach, indicators/signals (as my bike is a road legal project), I want to add oil pressure, and temp.

So far the top contender is the Trailtech Vapor


It does most of what I want.  The only thing missing is the ability to show both temp and pressure, it can do one or the other at one time, but not both.

The Mychron3 Gold is really nice, but I am on a budget, $1500 is waaaay too much.

These "universals" are nice, but I would prefer an all in one unit....

Will this digital package go on a street bike - or a race bike?  I ask because we, at least, don't have time to look, much less do something, about abnormal readings when going down the race course.  We have a tachometer and something to tell us the oil pressure has gone down.

If for a street bike -- sure, that would be fine.  I don't have such on any of our road bikes, though.  I've read lots about digital tachometer readouts - and pretty much what has been printed (in the magazines I read) has been negative -- too hard to read at a glance, too hard to read in bright sunlight.

Cant remember the brand but the Aussie Streetfighter guys commonly use a small unit that has warning lights, indicators, tach and rpm ,about the size of a small gps and ~$200 or so

VP,
I have used a Trailtech Vapor with my Honda 250 4 stroke at Maxton Mile for the last 3 yrs.  It was easy to install and has been reliable once I isolated the reset button on the back of the gauge from getting hit by the padding.  It is cheap too.  But it is not customizable for the screen displays so just be sure that what you want to see is on a single screen.  I watch my water temp while idling in the on-deck position to be sure I don't overheat with my small radiator, my MPH near the speed trap, and my RPM.  I set the shift lights but never even see them on the run and the RPM number is somewhat small.  But overall the unit has suited my basic needs fine.  Hope this helps.
