Title: clutch or coupler?
Post by: BurtonBrown on February 23, 2012, 07:15:30 PM
For a Liner......

Main question is do most people use a clutch or Coupler Or some other way of engage/disengage?

I want to use set-up with several engine possibilities and am planning on a liberty 5 speed as the transmission.

Ram used to make what they called a "coupler" but don't know if they still do.

Advice on what works/ what doesn't is appreciated.

Clutch... we use a 7 inch dual disk Tilton.  It does not slip, wish it would a little

If you do slip that style clutch you won't for long because you'll warp the floaters or burn them out.

Bob, thought you might have noticed that the weight of the XXXL Head was the only thing keeping my feet on the ground after the 245 pass with the lakester.  Info tidbit... Our first record with the lakester was in the 130s.

PJ, can't slip that one, it is engaged or not... no middle ground.  Believe me, we have tried to slip it just a little, no joy.
