The April meet is booked out at 175 entries.
Just a thought, since on all of our first passes we will be rookies why not hold a rookie orientation meeting on Friday afternoon and have the first waveoff earlier on Saturday. I don't know how many people might come in during the night but it would move things along a little faster.
-
The rookie meeting has always be at 5 pm on Friday and at noon on Saturday.
-
Garrell,
I think you are kinda on the right thought process,,, But as Joe said,, we always have rookie meetings at 5pm on Fridays and again at Noon (lunch break) on Saturday for those who arrive after the Friday meeting.
What you may not have picked up on is the Rookie meeting is Mandatory for all racers that have never ran down our course... so Yes,,, we all will all be "Ohio Track" rookies,, but not all of will be ECTA Rookies... so we all need to be at the rookie meeting and the drivers meeting...
It will all work out,,,,

"... filled up." Hmm... that really snuck up on me. How come nobody uttered a word about registration volume (at least not on THESE forums) until now?
I don't even have a vehicle ready to run, and already I'm feelin' "crowded out"...
-
I understand Charles, never insinuated that the veterans of the ETCA were rookies but since Ohio is a new venue for all of us I thought the two meetings might be held together on Friday afternoon. I could see in Oct. at Maxton that a lot of participates came in over night and the idea would present a problem. My apologies to everyone that may have taken me wrong, I saw in Sept. and Oct.That everything clicked and between the ladies in the registration and all of the track volunteers and the participates that everything fit like pieces of a puzzle and I don't want to be a left over piece. I will always do my part to be ready to run in the prestaged lanes and anything to not hold up the show. I will do more listening than typing in the future.

Jack, if you look back at other threads on Wilmington the subject of an upper entry limit has been part of the conversation right from the start.
Pete
-
I believe i mentioned it once or twice. Mail your entry for the next meet the day of the first meet and you'll get a spot. It just takes some planning ahead.
-
I am with PJ and David,, entry limits have been discussed well before they ever even opened up registration.
Plan ahead,,
The second and third events and so on can only be better as we all get experiance with the new venue.

Charles you are a silver tongue devil. I am sure things will be GREAT. If we can just afford the diesel to get there. If it starts hitting $5.00 a gallon its going to be a problem. $6.00 a gallon will be a show stopper for me.
-
Bob has Pete got your motor ready for this season yet ?
Yes travel costs with the rising price of diesel is going to be a big consideration.
My Bonneville plans all depend on available funds,,,Fuel costs are 35%/40% of the total trip cost when I figured on $4.00 per gallon.. when at $5.00+ per gallon,, sure presents a big problem,,
See u for the first event in Ohio

... an upper entry limit has been part of the conversation right from the start...
Yeah, I've read it all as it was posted- so?
What surprised me, is that there wasn't a single post such as "Entries coming in fast", or "Entries already at 50%", or etc.

There were also several mentions of it filling fast on one or two of the threads on this site.

Wow.

Yeah that last comment seems a bit harsh, but this is both a tough/thin skinned crowd. If you do facebook (this may be a good reason to start) friend the Ohio Mile. Tonya posted a message when entries were nearly full and actually, the 175 limit is above what I've seen suggested on this board. Come on anyway. There's much fun to be had and the first event will be the start in a new chapter of ECTA.

Now that I know about the Facebook page I can loose the useless Yahoo Group.
-
While I know very few are in my situtation, but because of my daytime paying job, I'm extremely discougaged from having a facebook page account. I hope important information is not just posted there...

yeah , the same here ... no facebook or any other of those evil sites.
-
I don't do facebook, didn't know info postings were going on there either and thought this was where we needed to get our FIX. Also, why facebook when there is an ECTA Yahoo group page, I think 2 places are already one too many. Lets keep this as the main source, not 3 or more places. Sorry, but I am too old to be scouring the internet to keep up.
-
I don't do facebook either. Too much bad and not enough good. I'll stay here, thank you.

My dog has a Facebook account, I use it. and as far as info goes, yes, reaching the 175 cap was announced on the Ohio Mile facebook page first. 310 members of the group. seems the place to be for the ECTA.

Yea, but are we all friends?

Yea, but are we all friends?
LOL!!!!!

Yea, but are we all friends?
Mayhaps yes, Mayhaps no. Depends on whether or not we are discussing "Diesle Lakester Class" :-D
-
I'm not a big "facespace" fan and this is still THE site; but the Ohio Mile site does allow getting announcements out through your e-mail. Yes, you will have to bypass the "Oh Boy I got a new lug nut" postings. Hey I know, since Jon is now doing facebook and this is his site -- Oh Br'er Wolf don't hit me with Nancy.
-
What's this "Jon is now doing Facebook" stuff? Yes, there is a Seldom Seen Slim page that was set up for me, but I have yet to go thereon my own. Nancy takes care of it for me by my choice. I have enough fun on the internet with landracing.com. As for Nancy -- dream on, Relaxed. . .

Hey Pontiac Jack
Is that an EMI SUL Hemi head from Brazil your using under your signature ?
Ronnieroadster
-
No, it's my "spare" M/T Pontiac hemi head that I'll use on an inline-four for my F/BFL.
These are my two heads that AREN'T "spare"...
-
Social media is the easiest way to get the info out to people. FB will sand you an alert you have a group message and you will instantly have the info you need. Hey I'm 53 years old and not a big computer guy. I found out I needed to change. Found a few sponsors through Facebook. I don't use it at work for the same reasons as everyone else, but my phone still lets me know when there is a post in the Ohio mile group. I think it is the way to reach people quickly.
-
Hi Jack
Very rare set of heads look forward to seeing the Hemi four when you make it to Ohio. I have a soft spot for anything with spark plugs in the valve covers. Got an ARDUN converted flathead in my roadster.

Nope - don't Tweet, don't Facebook. Old and not interested. So I'll muddle along.

+1
the only time I like face is not on a computer.

Please, folks. Some of us don't play TwitFace. Where is the correct place to find ECTA information?
-
Sometime here, sometime not. Can you say tweet tweet?
What are you doing up at such an unGodly hour?

Does anyone know if there is going to be an entry list published showing who all is coming and what classes they are running in at Wilmington in April?
Zach
-
Zach,
To the best of my memory, I do not recall a list ever being produced like that.
Hmm, I guess it would be nice....
See you in April
Charles

Try Angie Schindler

I'm coming. Driving in from Chicago. White 1979 T/A black cowl hood. Running in the street class. Roll bar going in next week parts got here today.
-

Zach
That is a Bonneville Speedweek thing, of course it doesn't mean it couldn't be done...wink, wink, nudge, nudge...
-
"what classes they are running"
As many as they can pony up to.
When I was a teenager, there was a music shop called Lyle's Record City in San Berdoo. Mayhaps Wilmington could use part of that as their city motto.
-
What class will you be running in?
-
A/Fool/Critic
(Critic of those that brag about being a "record holder {or multiple}" in classes where no one else has ever run. Granted, it ought to be a field day for those from the start.)
-
so you are not going to race then?
-
Stan will see you @ El Mirage in May when he runs against his (OWN) ONE record in the ONE class his car and engine fit!
-
Did he break that record or just set it? I am sure there will be an open class for him to race in Ohio
-
Rumor has it that in order for him to go that far out of state, he'd have to change his name.
Mike
-
Be cool to see what will be there seeing as though everyone has pre- entered like we do with speed week. Just a thought.
We will be there with our orange ghia running in F/ Classic Production (with a G motor since we are stuck running F only per the rules).
Zach
-
What is the protocal for the wating list for our first meet? Will there be a bullpin of sorts at the track for people that haven't pre-entered but show up to run just as they did at maxton?
The reason I ask is because my cousin was able to get his truck back together and would like to run it but did not know there was going to be a cap on entries (should have mentioned it to him but didn't think he was that interested in running). So, if he comes with us and brings his truck and only 173 cars and bikes show up will he get a shot to run? I realize that the only way 173 entries will turn out is if there is still snow on the ground in OH or something but just wanting to get some of your expert opinions on something as hypothetical as this.
