Wanted:
Transmission and Rearend for Liner project. Planning on making 700-800HP for the first year stuff. Anyone having anything laying around their shop they are not using anymore let me know. Looking to Run approx 250MPH. Have access to machine shop to modify if necessary. Any leads are appreciated. Low buck project.

Go get a gen 3 Camaro axle and chop it down 2.14 up ratios with Torsen diffs available for pennies on the $----what wheel flange spacing are you wanting :-P?

TCI makes a direct drive vave body for a powerglide trans that eliminates the need for a convertor. I see them all the time on Ebay. My lakester with about 650 HP ran 278 with one. The kit with the extra clutches etc. is all on Ebay. Cheap way to go and easy to hook up your shifter. Also if your fair old like the Sparkster and I, it makes shifting fairly simple.

my 900+ hp lakester ran 305 with a PG/gv and no converter---just push off and yanked it into gear 1 shift with trans and 1 with gv made a 3 speed out of it the 2.14 gerars became a 1.66 FDR with the GV

I will measure the width this weekend. What I was trying to find was something that someone might have run before and then updated.
Is this 3rd gen firebird rearend the same as Sparky is talking about above?

same rear end as camaro, this is a spare have three . i bought moser axles with 9 in ford bearings and welded 9 in axle tube ends on. or you can use c clip elimanators.

Yep, and you don't really need a lot of streamlining.... one of those will almost do that with open wheels... :roll:

A glide won't be desirable with your engine combo Burton. You will have a really narrow power band & 2 gears aint gunna cut it. You need to look for something in a 4 or 5 speed so you can keep it on the boil.

I have a Ford 9" rear end that is about 37" wheel flange to wheel flange .... narrowed so that the pinion is on center and a gear set or two....
I have a slightly scattered BW Super T10 (for parts, really) good case good cluster, good second, third and fourth gears.... Weld wheels with 28" tall Goodyears and other stuff.
And, BTW, I use a four speed manual transmission in my rear engined lakester and ALL mechanical linkage with a Hurst Synchro-Loc shifter mounted in the driver's compartment. It was not that hard to make up.

My wife was born in the uper-land Eh. An Air Force Brat (Sawyer). You aren't far from where she lived. I grew up in North Western Ontario. Nestor Falls, Ontario to be exact.
