Title: Stone Woods & Cook
Post by: Bob Drury on January 05, 2012, 06:52:06 PM
Drag Racing Online has a short article and picture of Mike Cook Sr. and Jr.'s new Nostalgia Mustang Funny Car.  The car looks great and according to the article Junior is slated to drive.
After last years health issues it is great to hear that Junior is healing or healed up!!!!       Bob

Mike, it is so good to hear that not only are you healed up but got a NITRO FC liscense!
Being a old Top Fuel drag racer, and having had your grandfather sign a 1960's picture for me, it brings great joy to my heart to see what you and your dad have accomplished together.
Good luck on both the asphalt and of course Bonneville.
And tell Gaynor that he sucks eggs............ (tell him Bob says hello).  :-D  :-D

Big hugs and congratulations from way up north, Mike - and all of your crew and builders and family and everyone.  Sorry we couldn't be there -- but who knows, maybe one of these days we'll make it out west.

Bob Drury, what is wrong with Bruce Geisler???
Title: Re: Stone Woods & Cook
Post by: Bob Drury on March 07, 2012, 12:48:50 PM
Gary, Bruce has been dealing with back issues for several years and had back surgery a few months ago.
He is walking around without aid but still having pretty constant pain problems.
He would probably get better a lot faster if he wasn't defying his doctor's, wifes, and friends orders to take it easy, stay off his feet, etc.
Old Brucie has never been big on following others advice, and just completed removing the blown small block and tranny out of his beloved "Geisler Construction" pink 51 GMC pickup which he has sold minus running gear.
The running gear is going into, of course, a new street rod (either number six or seven) he has stashed between Huntington Beach and Vancouver.
I am sure Bruces back problems have nothing to do with his sixty year history on the salt.
Amongst (I am sure, many other racers) He has introduced Mike Cook Sr., Dyno and myself to the Salt, and cost each of us any chance of living a comfortable retirement..................   Bob

Sometime back in the 90s, I saw the Winged Express on an open trailer here in Springfield, Missouri. I turned around and found it in a service station getting gas. I talked with Mousie Marcellous, he had the urn in the passengers seat that had Willys ashes. I have seen Mike Boyd a few times and I wouldn't want to tangle with him.

T-man, after having ones's noggin opened up twice in one year, I don't think any of us would be what we used to be, but I think we are all very happy that Jr. is not only recovered, but RACING!!!
A few years back I had the misfortune of becoming the recipient of cluster headaches which if you have never experienced, leave you unable to function normally, and nothing you ever want to have.
After many tests and MRI's my neurologist looked at the data, precribed some pain medication, and had me come in every two weeks to check on my condition.
After about two month's I went in to see him and told him that they had dissapeared the week before.
He said " Then we are done unless they come back".
I asked him what had caused them and his answer was: "unfortunatley we cannot unscew the top of your head to look at any problems.  We can see from a MRI if you have had a stroke or have cancer, but other than that we just treat the symptoms as we can only guess at what is causing the problem".
That was good enough for me.
As Otto Von Bismark once said: "the less people know about how laws and sausages are made, the better off they will be".                             Bob

While watching The California Hot Rod Reunion (from last October) on Bangshift.com, I witnessed Big Mike do a burnout in the tower lane, crossing over into the right lane and swerving around another Fuel Altered that had already rolled to a stop.
He then drove back into his lane, came to a stop and they both backed up as if nothing happened.
Willy Borsch is probably still smilling in his Urn.  If you can't find it on You Tube I am sure that it must be in the Bangshift.com archives.

I was there for that act. Right in front of us in the stands, the people sat in stunned silence. Then, as they say, the crowd went wild.

Dan, the scariest part as I remember was the other guy's backup crew person who was between Mike and the other car.
If he didn't crap his pants, I don't know why.............  Bob
