Anyone notice the date change? The event is now Sept. 8-11, Saturday - Tuesday. Pits open on Sept. 6th, inspection Sept. 7th.
I think this puts the event before the Sept. El Mirage meet instead of following. Also leaves a gap to Mike Cook's traditional start date.
Doesn't affect me, I'll be there.

Well doggonit Dan, if you're going, I'm going. Wayno

Thanks for that comment, Dan. Nancy and I have enjoyed it when we can go to WoS and stay over for the Shootout -- and sure would be happier if Mike changes the Shootout dates to allow us to continue doing that.
A potential drawback to Mike moving the event up a week - is that the salt will then be hosting three events back-to-back -- Bub's, WoS, and the Shootout. While the Shootout course isn't the same as WoS it is the one that Bub uses, I think, and maybe the combined stresses on the surface will make for worse conditions. Who knowze? I guess there's not much to do but stay tuned as things develop.

I would also expect that the move to a weekend will increase spectator attendance. So a three day weekend (Labor day), a two day work week, and then a week out and back. Not sure if I like the change or not, but I do prefer WOS to Speedweek.
-
This may make it Bubs / WOS / Cooks --- 3 weeks in a row .... Joe
-
Joe can we say 3 week vacation Trek ?

What the H### might as well move World Finals up a week and miss the rainy season.

Looking forward to all the dates being set and making one long trip to cover them all!

Let's see here, thirty days at the Montego........ why thats only six grand a room.
Better book em' now............ Bob

Aside from Speedweek, a couple of weeks at the Rat Palace with the secret code for the good deal will be so inexpensive, they'll pay me when I check out. Okay, maybe not, but there are $45 a night rooms, without bedbugs, once the crowd leaves in mid-August and you check in for a week at a time.
-
Monix,, where do you stay for $45 a night ?
Charles
-
Motel 6 is the cheap one ... we have used it ...
-
Charles,
America's Best Value Inn
1325 Wendover Boulevard
West Wendover
It's across the street from the Pilot Truck Stop
Plenty of parking for those pulling trailers.
Cheers,
-
The only time any of them are expensive is during the first weekend of speed week, one room during speed week is about the same for three for world finals...
-
Good one Moxnix - just blew the code.

Sorry, I should have PM'd Charles.
Still, during the September meets, they weren't half full.
DW, when I see you in person, I'll tell you about the clean, bedbug free, remodeled $25 a night rooms (by the week). Top secret.

Don't go screaming to the America's BV just yet. They were bought and taken over by the Red Garter right after the Shootout ended this year. Lots of the staff went away, and lots of the service, I hear, went too. Tread carefully.
-
Montego Bay is 60 a night during WOS.
-
Fred, I would rather pay the 60 and stay at a casino...generally cleaner and good service..hmm not to mention the tables are near by...

Montego Bay is the class act in Wendover. Very nice rooms, several resturants with good food, and oh yeah lots of places to help part you from any spare cash. :-D
-
. . . and decorated in which Steve Batchelor a few years ago aptly called Bordello Baroque.
-
You will be amazed at the changes made at Montego Bay!!! It's finally losing that "Bordello Baroque" look. Now if that UGLY carpet would vanish..........

I kinda like the" Bordello Baroque" look. :-D
