Title: This Ain't no good
Post by: Captthundarr on August 23, 2011, 02:57:22 PM
This can't be good - I live in southeast NC and got a hurricane coming and just felt the Virginia earthquake. What's next the fab shop where our car is getting a roll cage upgrade burns to the ground?

Careful what you say.  I also am watching the storm track, felt the earth move and to top it off the weed eater picked up a rock and threw it through the patio door glass.  I think it's time for some cold ones.

RR  make sure to save some of those cold ones for our pit party in Maxton... I know I am "car guy " now,,, but since I was a bike guy first,,, does that get me an invite to the biker pits ?  (not sure who has the coldest beer  you guys or Lawson and Terry !!!  Hmm,, I think I will party in both pits LOL

I put a rock from a weed eater through the back window of my wife's car last year. But today was better In preparation for the rain that is coming I cleaned the garage roof and regraded the yard some and made nice rain water runoff paths. While doing so I was pushing a wheel barrel. It stopped I did not. Now I have a broken rib. I heard it snap. I think it IS time for a cold one.

Charles, there may be nothing left to drink as it is just Wednesday for me and it keeps getting worse.  Walked out from work to start the wifes car 2004 Pontiac GTO.  Hhmm, the switch will not turn.  She brings the spare key, still no joy.  Played with it for a while and nothing.  Looks like the lock tumbler is bad.  Just imagine what they want for a new switch.  The key alone is $300.  I am not about to say what's next.

Those trimmers are hell. I put a rock thru a stained glass window last year and by the time they matched the glass and leaded all the glass back in I could have built a new race car.

Joe, I'm keeping the trimmer N/A.  Saving the juice for the mower.  Keep your head down as it looks like the storm is headed for Long Island.

Thanks Dan. just getting upset that the car is so close and I want Amy to get some runs in at Maxton one last time. I cant afford to miss a day working on the car and I've been down for 3 already. Seriously POed.

Wow, now that ain't no good.

On another note. it's official -Amy's' car will not be ready to run at Maxton. :cry:been down with the flu? for 4 days and ain't looking good for the next couple of days.

Any one willing to let her make a pass or two. Maybe get her 125 licence?

She's more than welcome to take Mom's car down but I'll be amazed if it breaks 100 so I'm not sure that will take her toward her goal.  Still, it's available.  Brother Dave and I have a bet on who will run the fastest - slow brother buys dinner at some fancy joint (maybe McDuff's) on Sunday night.  Other than that anyone can take a pass as long as they have a brain box.

Thanks Dan you da man, a pass is a pass at this stage of the game. She'll bring her HANS device and fire suit. If I haven't contaninated her. I think Amy would want to go even if she was die'n. Good girl :-D

Getting sick.  A tornado.  It sounds like bad mojo.  This is temporary.  Be extra careful.

Wobbly, If it weren't for bad mojo I wouldn't have any at all. Just another challenge in life to over come. Gotta love it, just keep on truck'n

The Hans and fire suit are a bit of overkill.  We're talking a bone stock 1987 Chevy Celebrity 4 door, 4 cylinder, auto.  I plan to make major mods to it tomorrow (I'll cut the pipe into the cat mostly to bypass the stock exhaust system) and it has a fresh tune up and oil change (Castrol GTX - that's 10 HP right there!).  It features an OEM 3 point restraint system.  So a brain box and long pants may do it (I'll have the jacket for my suit).  Still, when it comes to safety, too much is just right.

We are thinking of having Amy walk the staging lane with a sign "will by you lunch for a pass" :-D or "will go into town to get you the beverage of you choice"

All good fun Dan, If she can squeeze 112.625Mph out of the little red KIA Spectra it would be interesting what she can get out of your American iron :-D

I'm well along in my performance modifications on the Celebrity.  I now have a proper battery hold down in place and new filters, plugs and wires.  The wires on that thing are a real PITA!  Between the back of the engine and the firewall and there's not much room there.  I can't see how you'd do it without a hoist.  The old ones seem to be OEM so I'm thinking it may actually help.  That and the old plugs (while not original) looked pretty whipped.  So can it make 100?  Probably not but.......

Exhaust mods tomorrow.
