Earth Quake Eastern racers hoping all is well we are just getting the news here on the west coast. We are thinking of all of you.
-
All is well in western Maryland. Having been born and raised in Southern California it was no biggie, but all around me people were confused as to what was happening. But definitely jarring to feel it here in the land of thunderstorms rather than frequent earthquakes. But buildings here are not built for this so I too hope everyone is fine.

I thought someone was shaking the porta john :-D

All our friends in California must be laughing at us "easterners" sniveling at a 5.9 earthquake! We just don't know any better. That my friends got my heart pumping!!!
-
Joe, they ain't fun even in California, been through a few over the years, oh, we have them in Utah as well.
Just happy no one is hurt.
-
5.9? That's not an earthquake.....
In SoCal quakes begin at 6.5
-
Seems like theres a quake when ever a top fueler leaves the line no matter which state they happen to be running in.
-
5.9 is still a pretty good shaker no matter where it happens... My therory is that it was just a pressure valve venting from all of the hot air building up under the DC area.

Smitty might be right

Probably woke them up from their snooze or knocked off their solitaire game from the desk. Hope all is well back there. Pretty common occurrence here on the West coast (originally from Seattle). Throw in a mountain blowing its' top off for a little excitement (Mt St Helens). Been through a few quakes in Cal also in my younger years... still a rude intrusion to your daily life. Stuff doesn't stay on shelves very well, either.

Well we might chuckle at the reporting, the Pentagon finding some old plumbing, and the jump in the stock market when Congress left the building, but that was near coal country, not sure what tunning digs are active, and I'm also waiting to hear how a chemical plant held up (a friend works there). They don't think much about lateral acceleration back east and much of that plant is getting on in years.
Just hope folks are safe and can set themselves for the storm rolling in.

"Oh the humanity!"
Brings back memories of WPRK and the turkeys outta the helicopter.

WKRP
You're welcome :-D

One thing to remember, the building codes for earthquake re-enforcement are not as strict in the eastern zones as the West coast, so that 5.9 may have done a lot of damage to the older brick and mortar buildings back there.
I hope the best for everyone, and LONG LIVE MAXON, and LORING........ Bob

That was the funniest thing I ever saw. Wish they would play it as a Thanksgiving tradition.

Well, they're screwed now with the new building codes to come.

All is well.. I was in my 4th floor office (top floor) and the building did some serious shaking,, I got up looked out my window to the ground below and got a fix on the sidewalk and it sure looked and felt as if te building swayed 4 to 5 inches. I lived in CA for years on and off in the 60's and 70's... so I knew it was a quake,,, just never felt one here in NC in my 31 years living here.
Now we are waiting to see if the darn Hurricane stays East of our coast or comes inland,,,
"Be Prepared" is all we can do..

Glad you are safe Charles Darlin' ! Also glad to hear the "Satin Lady" is safe and secure. Hope you stay high and dry during the hurricane....well, if not dry, at least high!!!
Hope all of our East Coast Racing Families are safe.
Stay Safe,
Lynda

BREAKING NEWS: The President has just confirmed that the DC earthquake occurred on a rare and obscure fault-line, apparently known as "Bush's Fault". The President also announced that the Secret Service and Maxine Waters continues an investigation of the quake's suspicious ties to the Tea Party. Conservatives however have proven that it was caused by the founding fathers rolling over in their graves.

Are you sure it wasn't caused bt 10 million rednecks throwing a handful of Skittles into their toilet bowls for an 8 second NASCAR race Kent?
