Title: Chassis construction???
Post by: T Fry on June 22, 2009, 02:24:55 PM
As posted in my intro Im in the process of planning a D/GCC 40 Ford coupe. I was wondering what the consensus of using the factory frame would be. Ive got a nice frame, and figured between boxing and the cage tieing it all together it would be a very stout piece.

Consenses? In my opinion it's as good a way to go as any and maybe better than most. I used the stock frame in my '32 and am in my Pickup.  If we get a few more opinions we should have a "Consenses"

Oh, in that case, try "consensus".

Using the stocker would make it a lot easier to mount the body -- but on a Forty, doesn't the body mount on top of the frame?  If you're gonna channel it and get it lower and lose some frontal area, a custom frame might even be easier to use.

The body will slide right over the frame.
