Title: Motorcycle 200+mph tires - what's the current tire?
Post by: jeffb on May 07, 2025, 08:41:35 AM
I've been away from landspeed racing for about 10 years and am looking to step back in.  I hold several 190+ records and a record over 200.  It's time to get my bike back out.  In the past I ran Bridgestone BT-003 tires, but it looks like those are no longer available.  I would expect to go around 210.

What's available for current tires that would be appropriate?

Jeff

Over 200 it must list 'for racing use' on the sidewall. All the big brands make racing slicks that will work. Race takeoffs that have been evenly ?shaved? by use (and heat cycled) are relatively cheap.

How well do road race slicks work?  I thought I had heard that wasn't the way to go.

I use hard compounds, and they work OK for me, but I?m not advocating anything, or going very fast. Maybe look at the record books and reach out to the folks in your speed range.

Always check the tyres specifications relating to its recomended maximum speed,, i have found that "ZR" and those marked with "For Racing Use" can have a differing "Max Speed" figger  :- :?
