Any news on live feed, video or audio only???
-
Yes, indeed. I set up the system for the audio stream today and tested it. I know that much. My earlier befuddlement about the video and audio from the start line continues unabated. I didn't see any equipment at the line when I left this evening. No doubt I'll find out more in the morning.
Tomorrow's events are to start with the drivers meeting at 7.30*. It will not be at the start line as has been the recent case, but rather across from the main entrance to the pits and hard by the brand new radio trailer. It's planned to be an hour long, followed at 8.30 by the course drive. Then we can get racing.
* Reminder: It's a half-hour from Land's End to the pits at 5-10 mph. Leave plenty of time so you get to the meeting promptly.

Found the link for audio:

I'm here - just had the 5 MPH trip from Land's End. It's still wet.
Last night it was windy, and the water blew back onto the pits and under our trailer. There's standing water for the first mile of the revised course (they moved it from the zero to the one yesterday) so they're considering moving it again this morning to at least make a short course.
The drivers meeting has been postponed for at least an hour. Stay tuned.
-
I assume some down runs were made Monday afternoon. If anyone should happen to make any good runs we'll hear about it here on the forum? The SCTA page isn't showing much yet.
Have fun out there, my thoughts are with you!
-
No runs have been made at this point
-
Jon,
I can hear you loud and clear here in (good) ole Germany
-
Here's the latest - 8.35 am
The meeting will start about 10AM here by the main pit entrance and our radio trailer. We'll have a short course only. 3 miles top run followed by 2 miles of shutdown. There'll be no 2 1/4 light so no qualifying as a 175 mph vehicle.
Further details as they materialise.

Stream went silent a few minutes ago.
-
Yea nothing for me here either, 1:43 PM, west coast time. It's a tough gig out there to stream. Not sure what kind of internet connectivity Slim is using this year but coverage out there is rough unless you have a Starlink or similar.
-
Back on. 👍
-
Power outage - the generator quit. We didn't have comms so we had to wait for someone to notice and fix it for us. It takes a couple of minutes to get everything going again.
We're back now.
-
Found a live video feed from the start line as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ENsbcszHSo
The live feed is a bit choppy but a nice companion to Slim's audio feed...
-
Ooops - off the air again. We'll fix it and be right back.
-
Off the air again. Video feed also went off the air too. UFOs causing issues.
-
Slim, thanks for doing the live stream. It's great to be able at listen in at work.
-
Thank you Jon (Slim). I much appreciate the commentary you both provide. It was a great mix of your broadcast (please thank the other gentleman) and the video stream. Racing vicariously this year. Cheers, Jim in Calgary, AB, Canada

Off the air - - because racing ended for the day. 100 runs - not bad for a rain-shortened race course that was moved a couplew of times to find good salt.
I'll turn things back on in the morning - by 7AM MDT or so. First we'll have return runs (I saw a few cars and a bike or two in impound as I left the salt), followed by qualifying all day. C U in the morning.
Hey - before I forget, I've still got some those swag bags of souvenirs, racing books, etc that I'm offering as a thank you for your $50 donation. I'll take a few out there tomorrow (two have been bought, gotta deliver them) and I'll have yours for you, too. Thanks.

The feed ended right after the Jesel truck run and a few cars still in line. It dropped mid sentence while you were talking about the space for course #2 extension.
Thanks for the feed. I had it on all day.
-
no live feed today?
-
Drivers meeting at 10 am this morning (mountain time). Then course will go hot. Live feed is on but just a music loop

LSRLive is showing racing. No live link to audio, only yesterdays link

no Live Feed isn't an issue....I hope that Jon (Slim) is fine and there is a reason for the delay...

Audio only is now live.
-
LSRlive link looks like it works. Mute the video feed and get the nice audio from Slim.
Thank you guys for the audio broadcast.
-
I had a bugger of a time getting the sunovagun online. No internet.. Back on now, I think.

Yes they need to ditch those other guys and use Slims broadcast cause it works out just perfectly with what's on the starting line.
-

Yep. The UFO's use to land up on the mountain were I camped. They would bring beer and I'd Bar-B-Q for them.
-
I don't see anything for today. Am I doing it wrong?
Wayno
-
Yes, live stream is working well. Listening right now.

Oops, I am an idiot. Looks like I was listening to a replay of yesterday's stream thinking it was today. Don't know what is up with it today.

Slim was having issues with his Cell Jetpack yesterday. He first could not get it online and then it died later yesterday morning.

Today the starting line video works.

I miss Slim's Live Audio feed.
-
Is Slim and Ron going to be able to resume broadcasting at some point?
-
Heard a windstorm went through last night and blew the "video trailer" off it's stands. Hope Slims new trailer is OK.
-
Slim,
May I suggest slipping a micky Finn to the live feed host.
He needs a rest.
And we need informed color commentary.
Sam

" You don't know what you got till it's gone". Really wish the SCTA video feed would just crank up the timing tower audio.

Agree, remember when this place was the GO TO for info on Speedweek?

Yeah the video announcer, Tim, keeps showing what he does not know about the different classes. Then he keeps making fun of different classes he does not understand or like. First days I would mute his and listen to Slim and Ron. I do like hearing the cars and motorcycles leave the line but don't like listening to him. He forgets to announce MPH for cars. People kept asking for the CB radio to be put up instead of him.
-
Really missing the audio feed down here in New Zealand, bring back Slim!!
-
Slim we all missed your voice.
Tim needs some tips. I got tired of hearing about this Alex girl, not sure what that was all about. Is she really a gearhead or just another pretty face.

Alex Taylor come from the Drag and Drive arena where she has been racing since she was 16 years old. She has won a number these events and has been in the mid 6's and 220 MPH in the quarter mile. She has also done a couple NHRA ProMod races. She is a host on Hot Rod Garage on Motortrend TV.
She has a Youtube channel with 125k subscribers but she is not consistent in her uploads. She will start a series of upload for race and just stop halfway through. I am not a big fan, just know of her and have watch her on Motortrend and Youtube.
-
So did she get her B license?? I was watching but audio coverage was hit & miss at that point.
...Yea really missed Ron & Slim. Hope they were able to broadcast over the local FM station so the spectators were kept up on whats really happening waaaaay out there.

I think she got her A license but broke when trying for the 256 MPH record that the car already holds.
-
Going thru the results as careful as I can (?) -- it looks like if you need a Bonneville record, bikes are the answer. Out of the 13 bike records, 5 needed to make 2 complete runs to collect.

I met her while waiting in Rodger Beckmans pits? at the Montego Bay race car parking area.
Great little gal and driving Rogers many records holding Camaro. Alex has gone over 200 in the six second time with a 55 chev. And way faster in pro mod

It's over. I'll leave town tomorrow morning.
I'm so danged sorry that I couldn't stream 100% of the event. Dammit! The JetPack (takes signal from the phone system and creates wi-fi) battery went bad and it seems that there aren't any here in Wendover. I'm very sorry.
In a way, though, it wasn't the best event it might have been if we'd had better weather. The mood was pretty gloomy - can we have an event with this? Yes, we did. The track was funky for sure. I talked with car and bike racers from slow to fast, and many of 'em told about getting sideways too many times going down the track. But yet - there was only 1 spin, and that was the Saab "Flying Pickle") - - which is front wheel drive. We had only one stretch of salt to use for a course, so it had lights at the 1, 2 and three. So to speak we had a short course only. Chris Raschke went 333 on that course of questionable integrity. Jim Hoogerhyde went 254. It wasn't hopeless.
But then - - so many cars and bikes ran way below their record. Lots went about 50% of their usual, be they roadsters or motorcycles or whatever. I don't know why it happened.
Boyoboy I hope the weather in the next few weeks is just right and there's a great course for WoS. More important, I hope the access road heals. It's quite the challenge today after heavy traffic through the mess. In some of the salt potholes mud can be seen at the bottom. I hope it's muddy salt - it doesn't turn so funky and slippery as does unsalted mud.
Thanks to everyone that stopped to chat, to everyone that took pictures/selfies of/with me, to the spectators that gave me snacks and drinks and that stuff, and to everyone in general. It was my pleasure. I'll get the entire frickin' system working before next time.
-
Jon,
don't worry
we have to say thank you for all you done (and Ron)
fighting against electric gremlins is mostly a lost fight....and getting it fixed in Wendover would have been a miracle....
have a safe trip home and we hear you again from the WoS
the meet himself....luckily...some teams were clever enough and took the opportunity to get drivers and riders the chance to get their license runs...the one who run their license on that salt collect also a lot experience for the future
stay crazy

Jon...thanks so much for everything you do...your dedication to the sport is amazing, and it makes the event so much better for those of us who can't be there...as for the glitches and problems, what would racing be without them? :-D

Hey Jon,
It's not your fault that there is no Verizon store in Wendover to replace your Jetpack! I loved hearing the Jon and Ron show for 2 days. It was awesome to have your audio and the YouTube video playing at the same time. Thanks for that!
Don

Jon - Slim and Tim Johnson did an excellent job with limited resources. I was impressed with the effort put forth by SCTA to get an event in under very trying conditions. There is no way to control the weather. Great job by all. Hoping for improving conditions for BMST end of the month and World of Speed after that.

I agree with Don.
Stuff happens. Thanks for the effort Boss.👊👊👊👊
