I read last night of the sad news that Marty, legendary Vincent racer and one of life's great characters has passed.
Someone who knew him better than I will post something soon I am sure. I had met Marty a few times, and spent one very memorable evening with Marty and the late Ron Vane chatting about Bonneville and Burt. A fantastic evening full of laughter and some beautiful memories that will never leave me.
RIP Marty, you sir are a true legend and will be very much missed.

Marty was a true racer at heart.

Had lots of conversations with Marty during the old Bub meets. One night I was privileged to sit in on a conversation with Boris Murry, Max Lambky, Sonny Angel, Dave Campos, and Marty....plus several others.... I should have had a movie camera and a tape recorder... what great stories.
Marty and Max were old friends so if you were looking for Marty, he was usually found in Max's Pit.
A land speed legend... GodSpeed Marty

Marty ran a Vincent during one of the BUB meets. It was quite an experience to watch and listen to it. He was a nice guy and it was great for him to do a run on the old bike.

At 80 years old he was still twisting the throttle hard.

Hi Vinsky,
was that on Steve Hamels twin? I assume it was. 2009 was a year that we couldn't make it to Bonneville, I would have loved to see Marty put that run in.
-
Yes, that was on Steve Hamel's bike.

Thanks John for the clarification.
