Been closely watching the Weather Channel and have been seeing some green out in the El Mirage area.
I'm planning on being at the meet.....Anyone know what the lakebed is like?

Stainless, PLEASE don't quit your day job! :-D :-D :-D
OK to rephrase.....Anyone know if there has been rain and if so, what is the condition of the lakebed?
Happy? :? :-D

Stainless, please -- let me respond to Garoline's guestion.
Yes.
If you want a longer version, dearie, Yes, (I'm sure that) somebody knows if there's been rain, and also someone (probably) knows the condition of the lakebed.
Dang, you're easy to please.
Over to you.

Jon,
Over the years I've REALLY tried to help lr.com with my pics and audio stuff but now I'm growing tired of you and your smart a$$ remarks towards me. My picture says it all!
I'm outta here,
Gregg
-
Sorry to see you've headed on, but think about us once in a while. We'll do the same for you.
PS I apologise, Gregg, but didn't know you were growing tired of the game. Sorry.
-
Jeeze I guess we are we becoming such a bunch of sensitive little flowers that that a little "man made heat" under the collar just make us go extinct --- I may have been wrong---maybe there is "man made global warming" :-D
-
WOW!
Gregg I am a smartass... it is in my nature... always has been.... obviously so is my birthday buddy... maybe St. Pat was one too... Sorry you took offense, I thought I was injecting a little humor, it was almost Friday...
Hate to see you go
Have a good one
OK, back to our regularly scheduled program....
How's the weather been at EM and is it looking good for another historic meet?
-
I'm sure the lakebed will be just fine. There wasn't all that much rain up there and it's been windy and warm all week. The forecast shows that there will be some beautiful weather for the final event of the SCTA racing season. If you plan to stay on the lakebed, bring a jacket or someone to keep you warm. The lows will be in the low 50's to high 40's. See you in impound! Cheers!

WOW, I thought your answer pretty much nailed it?

My local weather has been high 80s - low 90s each day this week. 90 miles removed, forcast indicates no rain or major cooling.

Weather is nice for a Nov.
Brandon Leggitt went 275 in B/CBFAlt. For you who don't know it IS a stock bodied 53 Studebaker. No chop top.
New course for tomorrow morning. About 150 entries or so. JD.
-
Ralph Hudson went 266 mph this morning on his partially fared two wheeler.
Top speed of the scooters this year?
I think Brandon's 275 mph might hold up for top time of the season
-
277.9 is the top speed of the season as I recall. The 911 Roadster was hauling the mail that day.
-
Those are all hauling the mail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
You bet. 266 on a motorcycle in the dirt is mind blowing. Warner and I were just shaking our heads when we heard it on the comms. Hudson needs a friggin' wheelbarrow for those cojones!!

Looks like some fire at shutdown??

Fuel in the pipe after pulling the shutoff. They did service and ran again.

Did some math. Final points as follows (but not taking into consideration class changes for meeting points champ requirements):
Cars
1. 4240 Hondata
2. 7 Aardema Braun Lattin
3. 123 Erik Hanson
4. 9999 Rice Vigeant
5. 203 Burns Calloway Warnock
Bikes
1. 2442 Chris Rivas
2. 760 Derek McLeish
3. 68 John Noonan
4. 744 Kayla Rivas
5. 659 Schaefer & Chambers
Special congrats to the Rivas family fielding two Harley's in the top 5 with Chris having a very fast 200+mph bike (The Rivas' are Milers). Another special note to Ralph Hudson for his crazy, fastest man on two wheels on the dirt 266mph pass - another Miler! Milers are well represented on the bike side!
-
I expect a "miler" to be wearing a steel shoe...
-
Hey Jack, I'm not a Miler, but I wear Steele shoes every day....
in industrial settings I was always asked if my tenni-runners were steel toed.... I always replied yep... 5 in each one....
No it's not Friday, but ya got to throw them out when you find them
Back to your regularly scheduled El Mirage racing discussion
Congrats to the points champions

Funny thing is when I started in 1974 the "old" guys said that Studebakers and roadsters were pretty equal speedwise.
Over the years many many things have changed especially with the the fast coupes as we know and Studebakers have been relegated to the Classic class but that statement is much more poignant today with Dave Davidson and Brandon Leggitt running within 2 mph of each other at El Mirage than it has ever been.
When you are lucky enough to see either of the these cars compete it is always a treat. Whatever you are doing when one of them starts up on the line, you stop whatever you are doing just to listen and watch them push off. I guarantee you will hear the entire mile and 3/10's. At the end of every one of their runs I just can't seem to help myself from stating "God I love this S--t".
-
Only back here for a second.....
I COMPLETELY agree with what Mr. Tone just posted.
When Brandon came to the line on Saturday, the world stopped for a second.
In about a minute the world rotated and 275 MPH was announced,
Absolutely INCREDIBLE run!
Also, INCREDIBLE was the 266 run by Ralph Hudson.
OK, I gone again.
