Title: tech inspection
Post by: bob on June 04, 2014, 11:47:57 AM
my name is bob, am working on a build. pretty much a rolling chassis at present. would like to bring it out to speed week in august for a tech pre inspection. long way to go still, but want things looked over on what is done now, so no last minute panick. would wait till the middle to the end of the week when tech slows down a bit. would it be ok to park it ( on a trailer) in the pitt area. we will be camping out, don't want to drive around pulling it about. anything else I need to know about please let me know. don't know if this is the place to ask this, but im sure it will get me in the right direction. thanks

You can count on tech slowing down the first of the week.

All race vehicles enter the pit area before inspection, and don't pay their entry fee (unless pre-entered) until inspected.  So there's no reason I can see why your plan wouldn't work.  If you pit on the far north side, you can probably access you vehicle without a Crew sticker by driving north of the pits.

Hopefully you know you can't camp in the pits.  But camping is available as this site will reveal.  Reasonable rooms pop up by mid-week at the latest.

Or park it just outside the pit entrance. Shouldn't hurt anything.

Bob, what type of car & class are you building for. you should also get a vehicle log so the inspectors can wight notes for any changes to be made. Make a photo log of the build and keep with the log book.It would be nice if you added pictures on this web site as well, Good luck on the build and hope to see you on the salt. And a rule book.

Bob, I had the same worries in 2012, & I was bringing my machine (bike) from England. Like Glen said, an SCTA rule book is essential. Good luck mate, see you on the SALT.
