Title: El Mirage visitors guide
Post by: wickedwagens on November 03, 2013, 10:05:16 PM
I was looking at coming down to the races at El Mirage this weekend (Nov 9-10).  I was wondering where is the best place to stay?  Is Victorville OK?  What else would be wise to bring to enjoy the races?

You can stay in town, Hesperia, Victorville? You can find a room from $35-$150 per night. I've never stayed in a hotel, we always sleep in the dirt or mooch some floorspace in a RV. To live the full El Mirage experience you need to stay on the lakebed. As far as necessities on the lakebed, food water, warm clothes, chairs and a radio so you can listen to the live broadcast.

The "whole experience" is over rated especially in November. Motel 6 at the north end of Victoville has been my choice for the last 10 years. Pretty direct road back to el mirage also.........good luck and have fun

Gawd, if you're talking about the one by the freeway, I stayed there maybe 15 years ago and I won't be back. Talk about a scary place.   :-o  Tone, if you're OK there now I guess it's changed.  Wayno

We ended up staying down the 15 at the Best Western Cajon Pass. It was a good thing the room was free (paid with Best Western points). It was right next to the train tracks. Ended up being about 30-40 minutes from the lake bed. I had a great day out there.  I'll be back next year for sure.

Motel 6 in Hisperia is also easy to get to and has a couple of decent food places close by. QUITE compared to the others!!
