Title: World of Speed who is ready to go ??
Post by: Leadfoot on August 26, 2011, 02:36:30 PM
The WOS speed is coming up fast, who is going ? who is ready to go ? My car AA\CGALT is almost ready just a little more work on the rollbar to conform to the new rule changes. Record is 246.011 in the class. I hope we have some good air. See you all there. Gary

Just not going to happen - the seven-month gestation for my crank has me scrambling just to get the engine together in time for testing before the drag strip closes down.

So like the true-blue Cubs fan that I am, I say, again, with a note of resignation in my voice, and through clenched teeth -

Wait'll nextyear!

Wishing great success and awesome weather to those who race next month.  WOS rocks.

T-18 days - Granite Falls High School's UrbanAutos team T2011 car is getting a long tail and a data logging system, and.............will be ready.  We will be running on alternative fuel on the short course to raise awareness and make it educational.  For more info on the program see elsewhere in this forum

Dan, have Mike M. send me the artwork for the engraved White Goose wine glasses, please.  I asked him for it at SpeedWeek and still haven't got it.  I'll ask if you'll PM me his address.

As for who's ready with what -- we intend to be there ready to race not only the ZX15S, but also the Ninjette 250T.  And this time we'll have most of the stuff we forgot to take for SpeedWeek.  I hope we will. . .

And we'll be doing another Salt Talks at WoS, don't forget.  Hamburgers, hot dogs, grilled chicken breasts, and lots of other foodstuffs and for sure a bunch of prizes for the raffle/drawing.  It'll be Wednesday evening around 5.30 - 7PM.  See you there -- on the salt for racing and at the Bend in the Road for Salt Talks.

Karl - The bike wasnt ready and I wasnt going to go. My nephews had their heat set on Bonneville and I couldnt disappoint them. Joe ran well but broke the exhaust pipe on his return run. Getting it welded and turning bike over to Cliff to race.
You do well at WOS and show everyone what TFA is all about.

Joe,
bummer on the pipe, but i'm guessing that it's not Ti, and will be easy to get welded.

TFA will be well represented at WOS, and RustBucketRoller is as done as i know how to make it.

I'm itchy to hit the road.

Good luck today to Cliff.

Monday Sept. 12th 8:00 am Registration opens for ONLY Land Speed Racing Classes
Tuesday Sept. 13th 8:00 am Registration will be open for ALL & continue until Sat. At approx. mid-day.

A couple of noob participant questions:

What is the difference between ONLY Land Speed Racing Classes and ALL? Does ONLY = everyone but 130 and 150 class vehicles?

And is Registration (I already registered for 130 class and received confirmation by mail) at Lands End or in the pits and do I need to show up ther to get my car #?

My daughter may  be a last minute crew member. Do I just need to get her name on my entry so when she shows up at Lands End she can get cleared and be able to enter without having to pay a spectator ticket?

Thx - Bob

I am a newbie at WOS and I have noticed that it has been mentioned that some entrants have received a confirmation by mail, well my Pre-Entry was sent in one day before I left home in South Carolina back in July, so I haven't been home to read any mail that may have been sent and I'm sitting in Ogden right now with the WABBIT in the trailer, so I hope that I got a confirmation.

Did I miss something in the registration process? While I'm traveling I handle all of my business and other affairs by using the Internet and I did include my email address on the entry form.

I'm not new to LSR just new to Bonneville and I do have a permanent number already. I came out early to visit some of the old places that I hung out at when I was stationed at Hill AFB back in the 60's, if they are still around .

Hi all, in response to Rfros and Iamflagman
All 130 Club and 150 Club numbers are assigned at registration.  130 Club numbers have a T in front of them and 150 Club numbers have an X in front of them.  These numbers are unique to these two classes and expire at the end of the event.  Many have called in advance and I have assigned them their numbers.
130 Club does not need to list 'crew members'.  You can get your daughter an event pass when you complete your registration.
Yes, 130 and 150 Club are just USFRA Club 'time only' categories.  LSR classes meet the SCTA rule book safety and class requirements.
You have pre-registered, you still need to get a technical inspection.  Proceedure is to show up, set up a pit area, get in line to tech, once a vehicle has passed tech go over to registration and complete the paper work.  At registration you will get your entrance stickers, any extra 'all event' passes you require, drivers arm bands, etc...  If you are a new SCTA class/LSR Class vehicle (as in everybody except 130 and 150 Club) you will need to go over to registration and purchase your log book and fill it out.  The inspectors will apply the sticker, that is in the book, to a visible, non-removable part of the chassis or roll cage.
Hope this helps.  See everybody in about a week.

First trip to the salt flats. Leaving tomorrow afternoon. Packing up the 79 Trans Am, 1500 miles and hope to be there on Tuesday. Been dreaming about this for years. Decided what the heck. Hope to keep my gas epenses under $1000. 383 stroker doesn't get the best gas mileage. I do have overdrive that should help. Can't wait to meet everyone and always open for your input. Going to run the 130 and see what happens. Look for me white T/A black cowl hood.

Michael Werner and Ed Staheli were near Ontario, Oregon two hours ago as they head to Mecca. That's more than half way from Granite Falls, WA.

Marlo Treit and his supporters should be on the road from Portland with the Urban Concept car and the supplies to make

their meeting with the Granite Falls HS team Tuesday morning.

3:06 PTT     The scheduled departure for Treit, Dickie Milne and Korey Bligh has been moved to 5:00PM.

The trailer is hooked up to the tow rig and Korey will be off work soon.

Marlo, Dickie and Korey are still along the Columbia River with an ETA of Noon Wendover time.

Michael Werner and Ed Staheli have checked in at their hotel. They have done the mandatory fotos at the B'ville sign

at Lands End and are unwinding after their 880 mile drive. This is Ed's first trip and now starts his rewards for all of the

custom machine work he has done over the past few years. It's a real pleasure to have him on board and no worries about

the parts he makes in the middle of the night so the students can continue the build when their class time starts.

He didn't get a vaccination against Salt Fever so he is hooked.
