Impressive Speed Week Runs!!!!
« on: August 24, 2008, 01:16:58 PM »
What were some runs from Speedweek that you were most impressed by? Looking over the results here is one I was impressed by, mostly because of the motor they were running.

Name: Costella Yacoucci

Class: XF/FS  (ford flathead normally aspirated)

Existing Record: 223.460

Return Run they ran, Quarter 204.609, 3rd Mile 215.364, 4th Mile 238.236, 5th Mile 252.890, Exit 257.998

They set a new record at 236.337 mph.

I saw that!  How did they fit the flathead into the liner?  :?

Tom...Freddie Dannenfelzer blew my doors off. 366 with a mile to go and he shut off. Everything was OK, he just had brain fade. Had he run the last mile he would have had Top Speed of the meet.

Besides that....that bugger is LOUD and rumbles your chest.

Jason running as well as he did is also a great feat. Surviving is incredible.

Jimmy Stevens built the EFI Flathead, they had no previous runs due El Mirage rain out last month. It took them all week to get it sorted out. I know they planned on running Gas in the Fuel class because Costella already had the Gas Record. No Pictures out there with the body on, it is the old Costella Special, now dubbed the Neb III.

Jimmy works very hard on his flatheads and as he told me a few years back they were very high maintenance engines the way they were built. I don't think one has ever been past the 3 mile in his roadster and Ricks qualifier was in the 3. It looked to me they let it hang out on the record run by going to the 5 still accelerating out the back. I hope they come back in October and do a couple of 250+ runs on some parts wash.................JD
