Two things, first as an observation and having been in the commercial construction business for over 30 years when my health decided I couldn?t work any longer. If the concrete doesn?t have adequate construction joints it?s going to crack all to hell. At over 200 MPH I imagine these joints feel like they are 3? high and they would probably occur every 30? or so. If you got on the concrete at the correct time, which isn?t too soon or the concrete would tear or too late and it would already be cracking in ever which direction it wanted then when it started spalling off on the edges of the and when bad enough you had to start patching it, Wallah you have a nostalgic track similar to the Maxton Mile.
Second: I decided to retire from LSR
after the Spring Meet in Wilmington because the 12 hour trip was taking its toll on my Rheumatoid Arthritis, And Parkinson?s but I think my heart and especially blood pressure was better when I made plans for my truck and when to go and making travel plans because since I retired I have had 7 more Strokes, no I don?t mean TIA?S which there have been plenty of those but full fledged Strokes. I turned 70 this year but my BP is the best it has been in 45 years so without any announcements to my family I decided I would go Racing one more time and not to Ohio or Arkansas but to the Bonneville World Of Speed to claim one of the 130 MPH Club spots, after all how hard could that be. I had read over the years how hard the Salt could be to the finish of a nice car so I certainly would not want to go the 1800 miles
Very uncomfortably with 3 people in my 2010 HEMI Orange Pearl never been in the rain , 40,000 mile HEMI Challenger nor in my 24,000 mile, never rained on, 430 RWHP 1998 Corvette. So I decided I needed a cheap but in good condition to make the trip to and back from Bonneville and big enough to be comfortable, carry our gear and run over 130 MPH then back it up. After lots of research I bought a 2006 Decommissioned Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, 130,000 miles is nothing on late model Electronic Engines plus these come with Oil Coolers, Heavy Duty Suspension And with 250 HP and I had plans to easily bring it to over 300 HP and after talking to some Officers that had been involved in over 130 MPH pursuits it seemed the perfect car so I found a Detectives car which is the most desirable. I have 3 really good Volunteers to go with me. 130+ MPH one way and have all day to back it up, what could be easier? I am intending to replace every system and component on the car for dependability. Then yesterday in trying to gather more info I found a story about 3 Friends who also wanted to be in the 130 MPH Club in ther Audi A5, BMW 525 and a Shelby 350. They all ran for two days in good weather and their Top Speeds were, 116, 112, 118 and their was a 125 MPH from the Shelby. I don?t want to make a big deal about this and spend a lot of money to fail. This will definitely be my only chance to try this. Is running for class records with the ECTA in Arkansas very much like ruining the Ohio Mile?
I need advice guys.
