Title: Impact RAcing Products DECERTIFICATION NOTICE

Doug Odom sent this to me -- and a few others.  There's been a bit of discussion already, so I thought I'd put it up here so all can read, examine, and think about it.  What brand SFI-rated garb do you have?


"NHRA has received notice from SFI, Inc. that a Notice of Decertification was
issued today to Impact Racing Products, Inc. regarding certain products
(listed below), and that Impact will issue a Notice of Recall of such
products. Therefore, effective immediately, the products listed below will no
longer be accepted for use in NHRA racing. We understand that Impact will
issue a recall notice tomorrow, March 20, 2009.




Please consult www.impactraceproducts.com for information or contact Impact
directly.
The products are:



. Driver suits, pants and jackets manufactured in 2008 identified as compliant
with SFI Specification 3.2A/15 or 3.
2A/20

. Driver shoes and boots manufactured in 2008 identified as compliant with SFI
Specification 3.3/15 or 3.
3/20



SFI has informed NHRA that products manufactured in 2007 and 2009 are being
further evaluated by SFI."

March 20, 2009 - IMPACT RACING PRODUCT RECALL. Any and all driver suits, pants, jackets, shoes and boots manufactured by Impact Racing pursuant to SFI Specifications 3.2A/15, 3.2A/20, 3.3/15 and 3.3/20 at any time during the year 2008 have been decertified by SFI Foundation, Inc. and must be immediately returned to Impact Racing offices or an Impact representative. Impact Racing has reason to believe that these products do not fully comply with the stated SFI Specifications and therefore do not meet SFI manufacturer certification requirements. This recall applies to all such products whether or not they have been updated, rebadged, or recertified by Impact Racing. This recall applies even if the product now has a 2009 SFI patch or label affixed to the product. All applicable sanctioning bodies have been notified by Impact of this noncompliance. Please contact www.impactraceproducts.com for information or contact Impact Racing directly.
