Hi bill here, I was wondering what the distance is between timing light at Loring. Looking to run it next year. Thanks in advance
-
132 feet as far as I know, just like Maxton.
-
El Mirage, last 132 feet at the 1-3/10 mile. SCTA/BNI also has a 132 foot exit trap at the end of the 5th mile on the salt. :-D
Note: exit speed on the salt cannot be used to qualify or for a record, just information for the tuners.

Loring runs a "standing start" 1.5 mile course. The timing lights are at the last 132 feet of the course
So 7,920 total feet. First timing beam is at 7,788 feet and last beam is at the 7,920 foot mark
aka the finish line.
Hope this helps.

Why not set some Timing lights up at the mile also to get two speeds. That way you could combine ECTA and Loring records for a one mile course. Some people might only want to run a mile. Just a thought.

Muroc was 1.5 miles :-D
I like the idea of having 2 timing traps

How far apart are the timing lights -- side to side?

How far apart are the timing lights -- side to side?
I am not sure but a long way apart,, my guess 100 to 150 feet apart (side to side) but less than 300 feet
Stan Back, this is an awesome place to run... Wide, Smooth and Long... I would hope some day they would have the funds and help available to have timing lights at the mile and the 1.5 mile..
But if I had only one choice , I would vote the 1.5 mile...just like they have it now.

The lights at Loring are 132 feet apart. They are hard wired and multiple lights would require additional support.

The lights are set at about 150' apart (side to side). The track has too much of a crown to set the lights across the entire 300' and it also allows us to set up the other side of the track in case of a serious oil down through the trap.

no need to set em up 300' apart.
Mojave had em 200' apart, gave us the entire runway width and it was way tooooooo wide.
I ain't that new to this, but it was very hard for me to see where the finish was until Noonan suggested putting Easy-ups on both sides.
