Tomorrow is my wife's birthday ................that means pre-entry should be open in about 2-3 weeks. This year I plan to enter 2 bikes.......my Tiger Cub will have a new ignition system........and the 2nd bike will be entered in the 750cc Modified Classic class. We have a lot to accomplish but have a good start and so far on schedule. :-) :-) :-)
Hopefully this will be the year for the stream-liners 8-) 8-) 8-)
-
Well - Happy Birthday wishes go out to the Mrs.
-
Posted yesterday on their FB page.
"Pre-entry will be open Mid April. We're redesigning our website and getting all the behind-the-scenes items done for you! Go work on your bikes and we'll get the paperwork done soon!"
Make sure to reread the supplimental regulations again, there was some changes in Feb that may effect your class.
-
Carol says.........thanks for the birthday wishes
Work a little............read a lot............interpret a small amount.............ask for advice.........work a little........BUT WE SURE ARE HAVING FUN
-
I'm getting anxious............need to get a new number for my 2nd ride 8-)
-
anybody heard anything about pre-registration. Bubs website still says mid April?????
-
Both the website and the Facebook site say they are having delays getting their registration software to work on the website. Seems pretty straightforward to get that going but I don't know any details about what the problem is.

Reg now open. Evidently discount rate is only good for a week tho.
Also new logo...minus the Bub name.
"Registration is open! Check out our new page, our new name and our new logo....
For ONE WEEK ONLY we are holding pre-entry at last year's prices (discount automatic at checkout)."

I see -- no mention of Bub or Bub's. That might just imply that Denis Manning has pulled out of the event, hunh? If so -- that's a shame. He did get it started and going, and evidently did so well enough that someone felt it worthy of continuing even without him.
Worse still - I took a quick look through the new site and didn't see anything that told me that this is the same event as the bub's was. No "Attention Racers: this is what you've been calling the Bub's meet for years" and not even a "Thanks to Denis Manning and Bub's for getting this fun and important event going".
Ah, well, we do know who to thank for coming up with the plan, don't we?
And the new group is called - - Deliciate? Delicate I've heard of, but delicitate (one extra "i") sure sounds like a name made up sorta to cornfuse folks. That's my opinion, of course. You'e welcome to state your own. No flaming, please. :-D
-
I hope someone we know comes on here to clarify.
-
AS SIMPLE AS 1-2-3
1. Delvene has purchased the event.
2. It is moving forward with a new name and logo.
3. Same location, dates, and workers; which includes
the same old bib overall wearing technical steward.
I can't speak for others, but for myself I'm very excited.
PRAY FOR GREAT WEATHER, AND GREAT SALT!! :-D
P.S.
"Deliciate" it is one of those unused words; which can still be found in the dictionary.
"To delight one's self. To revel."
And, in this case, to happily revel in the world of motorcycle landspeed racing
at the greatest place on earth. The Bonneville Salt Flats.
See everyone in August.
Over and Out.
-
Great word, Drew. Thanks for explaining it. Normally I'd be the first one to the dictionary, but here it looked so much like a mere typo that I didn't look it up.
Corngratulations and best wishes to Delvene and all the folks that'll be on the salt for the motorcycle-only event.
-
I can't open that site with my government computer - says it violates policy. My question is if this is still an AMA event and are the rules, records, etc still the same as it was for the BUB event?
Don
-
The site opens with:
"Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials, The AMA Land Speed Grand Championships, is the premier motorcycle land speed racing event. This AMA and FIM sanctioned event offers AMA national and FIM world record opportunities. Contenders in many classes, including streamliners biding for the absolute world record, will be there. Everyone can have a shot at the course. You can ‘Run Watcha Brung’ or take a shot at records!"
Mike

I'll be there with two bikes in 3-classes...................AMA only..............but getting ready. And my PIT-CREW seems to be growing with heightened interest from potential new competitors.
My guess is a major sponsor could re-name the event.................or not.
-
Congratulations Delvene.
It's not as if it's all new to you.
Hope it all goes well.
FREUD
-
+1 with Freud....................You've always been the LADY in charge :-) :-)
-
sponsorship can be a blessing and a curse. This year NRHS is once again the official water supplier to the event and the sponsor of the 201 club. I am sure Delvene will do what is best for the event and I proud to be associated with this event again in 2014!! .
-
Bikes are registered and Motel 6 is booked. Getting excited now!!!
-
I'm going to step back for just a moment and ask if I've offended anyone with my post from the other day (when i mentioned the lack of mention of Denis Manning and his work to get the Bub's event going). Evidently I ruffled some feathers by allowing it to be perceived that I was giving short shrift to those still involved with the motorcycle-only event. I think that's what was said in the PM's I got. Whatever I did say -- please understand one and all that I did not mean to imply anything less than sincere approbation for all. Race on!
-
I didn,t see anything wrong I to was curious as to what was going on, yes maybe mention of what the changes on the website would help.
I don,t even know how to pronounce "Deliciate" my spell check say's I misspelled it. Entered 3 classes anyway. Vetter Velocity, Greatgranny Sandy
-
Jon,
I did not think your questions were offensive at all. I was wondering the same things myself. I hope Denis Manning will be there as I look forward to seeing him and talking to him every year. It would be nice if there was some sort of explanation as to why there are all the changes, but if they don't want to explain, that is their prerogative.
If BUB did not want to sponsor the event this year, I am very glad Delvene did. Thanks Deliciate whoever you are!
Don

First things first: I looked it up in my paper dictionary (Not Real Big) -- and it's not there. No huge surprise. So I dug further and discovered that "deliciate" is an obsolete word having gone out of fashion around the turn of the 19th/20th century.
My spelling checker also says it's a misspelled word, but I've always taken it for granted that the folks that put words into the spell checker are fairly ignorant of words that aren't in the lexicon of daily use. When in doubt - try looking up a word by yourself (as you did, Chris). I eventually found some information online.
Deliciate: To take one's pleasure, to luxuriate, to indulge in feasting, to delight one's self.
-
So, would that be like pleasuring yourself?
-
Don, how - how, unh, how junior high school of you to think of that query. Corngratulations! You win the smarmy award for the day.
-
Congratulations Delvene.
It's not as if it's all new to you.
Hope it all goes well.

Drew,
I know the new site but there is no phone number for Delvene on the new sight, hence the reason I posted here. I e-mailed yesterday but have not received a response so not sure how often it is checked.
-
Wow Denis and Bubs are no longer involved with the "Bub's racing event"
Who could have seen that happen?
Good for Delvene for taking it on after running it for all of these years.
-
Will the pre-entry packets be mailed in time? For some of us its 3-weeks to the 'hit the road' date.
-
For the last 4-5 years we've sent the 'packets' out in the first week of August. When we sent them sooner we had a significantly higher instance of participants losing or forgetting their packet. We also as a courtesy, we post the pre-registration list after we close entry and have confirmed all information. No worries.... this is not our first rodeo. It's just a new name....
See you on the Salt,
Linnea
-
Thanks for that, L.................I might get to know your habits after a few more years :-)

Pippi2 PM sent to you Vetter velocity

Does registration have to be done online (in advance) or can we do it all on the 23rd?
This will be my first rodeo! :-D
-
On-The-Salt registration will open on Sunday the 24th.
We reserve the 23rd for pre-registration check-in only BUT if you happen to notice no one in line at the rego trailer you can come see me.
See you on the Salt!
Linnea
-
Thanks, Linnea
I'll get myself per-registered then. Will make a game day decision with my friend who's bike may or may not be ready in time...
Getting excited!
Jim
-
Yikes! I went to register, and the entry page only has options for media, spectators, and crew. Nothing for participants. Is it too late now to register on line?
-
Sorry registration is now closed- you will have to register on the Salt.
Pay for a DAY pass (your crew should pay for the WEEKLY wristbands) and come see me in registration (any day except Saturday- that's pre-rego check-in day) and I'll take care of your paperwork!
-Linnea
-
OK thanks. So crew passes only come with pre-registered entries? Boy this smoking hole in my foot is starting to hurt!
-
Linnea, when should we start to worry if we have not gotten our registration confirmation email? I emailed several days ago asking where one of my confirmation emails is (entered two bikes) but no response yet.
Thanks,
Don
