rear suspension
« on: March 29, 2005, 03:06:00 AM »
How important is rear suspension in salt racing , would anyone consider going to a solid rear end if it could free up space( no vertical wheel movement )  for other important parts in a very limited space , think streamliner or similar

Gary: My experience with open wheel bikes shows that a solid rear can work (251 mph in 03) but it is very much dependent on the salt condition. At SpeedWeek that year it was smooth and easy; at the World Finals it was bumpy and we had a modular rear wheel come unbolted and our water tank crack. I am not sure a shock can react quick enough at 370'/second but I am looking into that. I say give it a try. Best of luck.   Larry

Thanks Larry ' the salt down here is mostly very smooth and easy , I think I will give it a go as the benifits are "worthwhile   ;)  " best of luck to you also
