Joe said " .... run in opposite
direction as are many in the book.....it happens
 when conditions/logistics exist..."

I am pleased to be corrected on your own record attempt (brought up on two way runs of course over the same piece of surface).

However the use of the wording "many" means some (whatever the percentage is) have not, for sound reasons of safety in the available space.

So already there are 'apples and oranges' in the records listed in the SCTA/BNI book, which is not acknowledged or mentioned.

Just need to know if the Australians measure displacement of motors now?  Hawkwind ....?

wait till you see the complete restructuring of
FIM motorcycle rules........then you can compare
new oranges to bushels of dried apples.....

The ACU is pretty active with the FIM and certainly represented..
Malcolm and the Speed Record Club should be right up on those.

I feel sure that the FIM will continue the running procedure of consecutive runs in opposite directions in 2 hours - have not heard any different.

As to changing the classes, the FIM just freeze the earlier records never to be broken and move on from their.  Put the old apples 'on ice' and start with new apples.

The ACU here in the UK does indeed work with the FIM - have not heard their thoughts yet.

Malcolm , there are several things that are done differently at Lake Gairdner ,compaired to Bonneville ,and I put them down to a basic lack of volunteers / manpower and not enough equipment  the 4 main points are
 1. only one course which is used for both short and long runs ( we only have one set of timing equipment)
2.no controll "gasolene " ( no fuel company specialist or otherwise which shows interest in assisting )
3.We do not measure displacement ( a manpower problem ,its hard enough to get the help for the basics
 4. We have two types of records  A. a single run  with the highest speed accepted  out the back door short or long course , this type is the most common by a long shot or a two way run as per bonneville
we are currently reviewing the "gasolene " proceedure now and looking for ways to have a "standard " petrol available , also we are looking at a test track to run in a similar direction to your short course , this could be if demand in the future warrented be turned into a record short course ,also if and when our dedicated voluteer base increases, we would look at impounds and engine measurement proceedures

Hawkwind, thanks for the additional information on Aussie Rules and how you have to apply them.

Lake Gairdner is on my visit list but probably some time away.

PS. I am sure you will see some FIA or FIM runs on your salt in the future, if you can keep the wind under control.
