There will be two long courses at SpeedWeek, with course #1 being the usual long course, and course #2 will be a combination (long & short) course.  There won't be a rookie course or a short course per se.

I don't know that yet, Sir.  If there is a course 2 timing slip stand it's usually around the bend in the dike.  I'll find out when I find Mang.

The course layout seems to show 1 timing slip booth... they usually do a second when they have 3 or 4 courses....  We'll run on the smoothest one with the shortest line...

I drove to Smith's about 8.30 tonight - - in a sprinkly squally rain that started about the Peppermill and had stopped by the time I got out of the grocery store.  It wasn't raining at all when I arrived in town about 6.45.

I'll go out there in the morning and see what's what.

I'm in Wendover now.  I haven't gone out to the salt yet.

It rained lightly for a half hour or so last night here in town.  Ron Christensen reports the had quite a storm and heavy rain in SLC last night.

That's all I've got for now, except:

Gas prices are about $4.79 here, and diesel is . .  $4.79 at the truck stop at Exit 4 and anywhere from $4.79 to $5.29 here in  town.

If the weather was perfect the rest of the week,  how long would it take for that to dry up

It's dry now - nothing to dry out.

However - I'm going out  now for a recon - it's been raining here and there so I'll go look for myself.  6.00 PM

Yes, it did rain on the salt last night.  No, it wasn't much more than a mouthful of spit.

The mud flats showed puddles as I drove in, and there were puddle/wet spots on the salt on the first mile from Land's End.  Then there was just dry salt the rest of the way.  I haven't seen any other signs of rain out here.

The wire crew is installing their stuff, the toilets are due to arrive after 10.30, and even though conditions are not CAVU thanks to some smoke in the air - - - it's way better than last year.
