Thanks for the donation, RR, and thanks for breaking the ice for me. I'm always hesitant to ask for some $$ from those of you that use this site and the Forum. You've provided me with what I've needed to keep it running with few, if any, ads. For that matter, I don't have a wealthy Sugar Mama to pay the costs, either. That leaves my wallet and yours.
I'll be at SpeedWeek as usual, live streaming the audio and being a fount of critical information and blather. SCTA-BNI provides lodging and meal tickets (Enola Gay Cafe, not the Steakhouse at the Rainbow) for the volunteers, so I'm covered on costs there.
But there's Meridix's fees (the streaming company I use), and the megabytes on the metered line for my JetPack's (wi-fi hot spot generator), and hey!!! - the gas price has dropped. It's dropped such that I'll ONLY spend about $900 on the trip. (Disclaimer: SCTA usually pays for some gas for my truck since I spend a couple of days chasing hither and yon placing toilets at BOTH return roads at the 6 1/2 so racers and workers can have some peace and quiet to contemplate their runs. I drive a few hundred miles on the salt each event. Thanks.)
Okay, I gotta hang it up for the day. Long day tomorrow: Pack 11 cases of 200 MPH Club (table gifts for the Club banquet. Wednesday 10 August at the Nugget. Tickets ONLY IN ADVANCE) glasses in the truck, pack some clothes (Yeah, it's radio, but stil I try to maintain a modicum of decency...), stow the electronics that I'll need, change the oil filter in the truck (I've put about 11,000 miles on this oil and filter. I'll swap filters but leave the oil in there. I change oil at about 25k miles), load up on diet Mt. Dew and hit the road Saturday morning. Saturday night I'll stay at a nice crack whore motel (trying to keep costs down for you and me) and then Sunday head to eastern Montana. Monday night I'll be in Wendover after stopping on the salt to say howdy and to get an idea of conditions/take pics so I can report back to youse guys.
Thanks for anything you send. Use the Paypal button if you can - I can draw on it from the road. Thank you very much and - -
