Well, umm, unh, can anyone remember the video that Shane San Miguel and I appeared in a couple of years ago out there. We think the "artist" was Pharrar or some such. At least that one, while shot on the salt, featured a couple of motorcycles and riders. No commercial -- just video.

STRANGE!!!!!!!! :-o :-o :?

Did anyone see the episode of "Moonshiners" this week that had the guy on the Harley coming to the salt and trading I liquor for a motorcycle part? Who was the racer getting the gallon jugs?
-
I was going to ask what class they ran but really it should be what planet did they run on?

Just saw the Absolute Vodka TV commercial. Yeah, strange, but it was just another day at the dog track with a touch of the funky future at Bonneville. I used to see similar crowds at the Florida dog tracks, especially on Friday night, pay day. At least someone in production knew about the salt flats. I have to speculate that the extra metal trim on the high-tech greyhounds was because of getting through tech, no?
While on TV time, I think it was the show Storage Wars, they shot a piece of the program during BUB 2012. One of the main bidders, grey haired Barry Weiss, was shown bidding on storage units in Wendover. And just by chance his purchased a unit which had some motorcycle parts. He drove out to BUB on the salt, camera crew in tow, in a red cab-over pick-up and asked a friend what the value of the tires were. Saw some nice background shots.
BTW, Barry Weiss and other bidders ate dinner at the Rainbow that night. We were at the next booth. They sure knew how to have a good time. I'm glad to see Bonneville still seems to get its foot in the door of TV "places to be seen at."
I also heard that on the TV show American Invention, last November, there was a stand up scooter reviewed as a new invention. The designer will be running this "as seen on TV" stand up scooter at the 10th Anniversary of BUB this year.
Only three more days until the NW Bonneville Reunion in Portland.
I only get to visit Bonneville for a short time each year, but I am getting reminders all year long that it is still there and it has peoples attention. Save the Salt.

No dogs were hurt during the filming of this video...........Only my eyes are in pain over watching the freaks.......................JD

Actually they just filmed the usual goings on the week after Speed Week. Most folks leave too early to catch it.
Or so I'm told.

I'm part of a bunch of bikes that came over from the UK in 2012, (I'm the one with the Indian) & if you were there you may have noticed a BBC documentary crew following us around.
They were filming a 2-episode documentary about our attempt, & it was screened in the UK in January. The two 1-hour programmes are on you-tube, "Speed Dreams, the Fastest Place on Earth". Part 1 is us preparing our bikes in our sheds in the UK, Part 2 is Bonneville with appearances by Greg Carlson, Land Speed Louise & others.
