After running on the salt last year with my dad and brother in the '88 Mustang GT ( 342" Ford, car ran 179.79 on the 5 mile course) we've decided to step it up a bit for 2012:
2011 car:
2012 car: Hot Rod Lincoln
the roll cage work is being done by our life long friend Ron. He has a bit of experience building roll cages and cars. For 5 years he built the Paris Dakar rally cars for Jean Louis Schlesser.
We'll be running Gas Coupe ..... not sure of the engine size yet. Not sure if we'll do a 302" or a Windsor. The car will more than likely have a Jerico in it.
On the engine.. thought about putting my 409" Windsor Ford in it that I built with Danny Crower for the 2004 Engine Masters competition. It made 650 hp at 6,500 on pump gas with a few changes it will make 700+ at better than 7,000 rpm. We have a few options with it, but just might build a 302" smblk. I need to figure that out here in the next month.
This should be a great project for my brother and I to do again with my dad. I don't think any record will be in jeopardy this year, we just want to run better than 200 and go from there.
