Met a dude at the pub and collected the $$$$$$ for my 54 Chevy. Looked like a drug deal............it was, the drug called hot rodding. I should be around next week.
-
Hello all This is my first time trying to get on the chat line. Did I succeed? Barry Studebaker running in the 130 club
-
BB, I don't go to the Chat Line all that often, but I am the head handlebar holder for this site - so I'd like to know if you got into the CL last night or if you're having troubles. If you had trouble - as a new guy - then maybe I've gotta make the method of getting hooked up each week easier or more self-explanatory.
You'd know if you got in -- the screen has the small box where all entries -- theirs and yours - show up. If you saw that box and your stuff wasn't being printed -- then you're magic 'cause I don't think you can only one of the two.
Be in touch if you need more help - and I might pass you on to one of the regulars, but hey -- I've been known to be of some help.
-
My computer will let me in but not my iPAD.......JD..... Maybe an apple deal
-
I've used both of our Apple computers and had no troubles getting into the Chat Line, but I've never even held, much less operated, an iPad - so I can't tell you if that's the problem. Maybe someone else will offer help. Thanks for the report.
-
Chevr55 and I were on a little early and stayed on until near 8 PM , Joe got called back to work. It's usually a little light this time of year, As racing season nears it will be more active.
-
I logged on shortly after 9:00 p.m Central time, hoping that the room was still occupied. It wasn't.
Steve.

Tuesday night!

I'll try to stay awake for it tonight.

Can't log onto chat, guess Java is screwed up again..
-
It's bedtime in Skandia 'cause the airplane that will take us to the GNRS leaves here at about 7AM. I'll check out the Chat line stuff tomorrow or so - and have Bob take a look, too. Sorry if it doesn't work. Next time for sure. If anyone else has troubles - please let me know. It might help us figure out what's wrong.
J a.k.a SSS

Tried to log on. No success. Must be a silent order chat line tonight.
-
Gary Perkinson and I got on. It took a little fooling around on my part. I think the systems keep upgrading (????) the security systems.
Pete
-
I apologize, my new work schedule has me all screwed up. I have not worked after 5pm for a dozen years and am just getting used to the change!~
-
Should have been on Trent. Your name came up. :? :? :-D

Eating's important too! Hope you make it Trent. :-D :-D :-D
Pete

Cat is on right now. Come join us,
Sum, Glen, Peter Jack.......
-
I hope we see a few more participants tonight.
When we get half a dozen people or more it can be a lot of fun.
If you're building we often do a little brainstorming.
If you're not building there's a whole bunch of bench racing, etc. (with emphasis on the etc.). :-D :-D :-D
Pete
P.S. Don't be worried about typing skills or lack there of. Most of us seem to have ten rather slow thumbs, which really contributes to a mixed bag of conversations all going at the same time. It's a blast!
P.J.
-
Ill second what PJ says, the chat is a blast. Now if I can just remember that its tonight and not get stuck doing something else LOL
-
I'll try and be there,
Sum

come over and try chat right now....

It's still snowing in Montana and 5 deg. I'm really over Winter.

Sorry guys, got home late.
-
I'm wondering would more of you attend chat if it started with a specific subject matter with a moderator for that subject. For instance say one night it is Glen and he answers questions about timing, or a specific car owner that answers questions about his car, or say someone from a place selling carbs and they answer questions, etc. Then when the question period peters out it goes into a general chat?
With this format some could just lurk and not feel that they have to type and say anything, just be there and then enter in if you felt like it.
How about other ideas to make chat popular? Are the Java problems in getting it to work and the security warnings using it turning you away?
Also the chat room works 24-7 so is anyone interested in using it spur of the moment if they see others are on during the day?
Sum
-
I enjoy the open-format chat sessions, but have had a schedule conflict for Tuesday evenings since November or so.
Steve.
-
What if Jon (SSS) puts up a poll for which day and time frame.I don't think it will go away but Landracing will work with all of us and make changes.
I under stand that the east coast has a bit of a problem with the time factor. As Summer suggested a special subject discussion can be done at any time on the chat line, we are flexible and will set up a chat meeting with those that want a subject only session on any night.
-
I'm not a regular on the chat, but I do enjoy it a lot. It takes getting used to - this is the only "chat room" I've ever participated in - but PJ's right - don't worry about your 10 thumbs.
-
Then there's this question. It was PM'ed to me by someone that prefers to remain a lurker. That's fine -- but I don't know if lurking can be done on the Chat Room. Any experience, folks?
"Is it possible to have it so that a person can log into the chat to see what is being said without showing as being logged in?"
-
I don't think that's possible Jon but I don't see any problem with someone staying on the sidelines and watching. I wouldn't be surprised if at some point they start to participate when something of interest comes up.
Pete
-
I've been rolling something around in my mind.  :-D
The chat room is available 24/7 but right now it's difficult to organize getting someone you want to chat with on line at the same time as you. Would it be worth starting a thread where a person could suggest a topic and a time (including the time zone) and then anyone who's interested could log in at that time and participate? I think it might be a great way to brainstorm when someone has an issue with a project or is looking for a solution to a problem. It's certainly worked on the Tuesday night sessions when it's come up.
Pete

Good idea Pete,
Sum

I agree
-
The Chat Room doesn't cost anything to run - no data count, no fees, nothin'. I'll run a poll if you'd like to find out if there's interest in something like a "log on to this topic to see if you can schedule a chat time for yourself and your questions" - - or whatever you think it should be called. I'd probably title it along the lines of "Chat Room at any ol' time" or such. It'd be in the Bville General Chat section -- just like this one is, but it'd be freestanding so maybe we'd get it seen by a few more eyeballs. Whaddaya tink?
-
I want to see the regularly scheduled Tuesday night or whatever chat room remain for general chat but I think this might be of interest for specific subjects. There are a lot of really sharp minds on this board and I think some of those specific subject chats could be really informative and could stimulate further thinking.

On that note, maybe we could finagle certain folks to give up an hours worth of time to answer specific questions/topics. Off the top of my head I am thinking Burkland, Main, Costella? Aero folks? Nathan taking Qs on management systems. How about fire suppression folks? There should be veterans and experts in many areas we could showcase with a live chat. Since I am into vintage engines I would love to pick the brains of the Dodge Boys and Salt Cat guys. We could have a monthly showcase chat with some racer or industry person and it would help many!
-
I like that idea of feature chats Trent. The thing I was really thinking of is if you're puzzling over, say your front end, you might call a chat and several of us could get on and brain storm with you to give you some direction. It might speed up the process over the regular posting back and forth.
Pete

Chat line tonight, let try again.
-
Quick! Let's chat before the wine takes over. Damn, It's 45 degrees above here in Montana and I can hear the water pouring off of the roof. Can Spring be very far away?
Doug
-
You were late 6 of us were on for 30 minutes all but me and summer were freezing and went to throw another log in the fire place.
-
Glen, What are the hours?

Glen, What are the hours?
It starts at 7:00 Mountain Time and goes for anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour and a half. We never really know ahead of time. The 7 tends to be 7ish!
Pete

Got a sick 7 year old here so I was out again.
-
We had a better turnout last week. Let's try and boost participation again tonight. 7:00 pm Mountain Time.
Pete
-
I will be on a little early in case some new people want to join us.
-
where do I go?
-
If you go to the front page of landracing.com you'll see important pages in the upper right hand corner. Chat is the second item. Ignore the warnings on the way in. It just has to do with JAVA and really isn't serious.
We look forward to seeing you.
Pete

chat is on now. 7 of us...

Now?

Good chat last night guys.

Hey, Peter...tried to log on tonight, but my computer has some Java issues...I'll try again next week....
Gary

It seems you can safely ignore the JAVA warnings. No one seems to have any issues when they ignore the warnings.
Pete

So, again, I'm too late.
Doug :|

Correct, I just click past it. In fact, I have been ignoring a Java update for a year or more and it still works fine for me.

Am I late again?
Doug

The bulk of the chat is between 7PM MTN and 8. Most of it in the first 30 minutes/ Sometimes we stay in later or the Aussies remember and log in. Set your alarm.
-
Darn it I was home but completely forgot about it. Next week
-
Just a reminder that it's Tuesday and that means it's chat night. Hope to see you there! :-D :-D :-D
Pete

Should be

Having internet problems, may not be able to get on.

Did I miss out again?
Doug

Watch out Doug. One of these times we'll get you. :-D :-D :-D
Pete
-
Was very quiet!
-
It's been that way since Xmas Rob. It seems we only get 3 or 4 out each week. We had eight out about 2 weeks ago but that was an exception since the New Year.
It seems there are lots of problems logging in for a lot of people and then a warning pops up that means nothing but I'm sure it scares away more.
It was good to see you on. We've been missing you.
Pete
-

You will have to work on your aim ;)
I had a lot of error messages and it took perhaps 5 tries to get the login page to load. From there all was aok though.
Cheers,
Rob
-
Anybody chat last night? I was veg'd out with a cold.
-
I didn't get on until just about an hour late and much to my surprise there were three people active, Rob, Milwaukee Midget and Gary Perkinson. It was an active, fun group.

Tell him the PT is important, not to cough, don't lift any thing except to pee. it takes a little time but he is a tough old fart, thinking of him.

Well apparently I need to check in at 6 pm AZ time rather than 7 lol. I missed out on PJ, Glen and Rob. Mark O was still there so he and I chatted a bit and found out about his car that hes trying to get finished for Bonneville this year. I appreciated him chatting with me as long as he did.
-
I will try and get on more, mtb season is here and I have ridden most nights this week.
-
Must have been quiet tonight, I logged in late and everyone was gone.
-
It was and we logged off pretty early Rob. Sorry we missed you.
Pete
-
It happened again! The washing machine detonated and I had my head inside that and didn't know the time. When I went looking for parts I logged in anyhow at 8:30pm and had a chat with Travis for a short while.
Maybe next week. :-D

You must have all been bloody quick again, I logged on but nobody was home.
-
Holiday had me messed up. Logged in too late.
-
I was on from 6pm to 7:30 no other s showed up so I turned on the TV.
-
I logged on at 7:26 and no one was there. Must have just missed you Glen. I was busy doing a drawing and lost track of time.
Pete
-
Sounds like we all narrowly missed each other when logging on late. I was definitely before 7:30 MTN time but it would have been close to that.
-
Sounds like we all logged on at different times last week. Lets see if we can get it together tonight or whatever it is in your part of the world. :-D :-D :-D
