On your Event Information sheet that came in the tube there is a brief desription of impound activities. I have created an additional info sheet for impound. I have tried to expand on what to expect.
Please read it over and ask any questions you may have here. I will attempt to explain what is expected from the both of us.
Thanks for posting my info Jon,

Dan, is the "qualifying lane" that opens at aproximately 5:45 a.m. at land's end ?
Thank you again for all you do. As I stated in another post, without your and a few others input, us wanabee's would be in the dark..................... and I think I see light at the end of the tunnel.

Dan! Engrave it on granite!
That's the best, concise impound write up ever!!!
Ok, I do see one thing.
Do not get caught entering the Impound from the pit area. “We just stopped to pick up tools.” Or “Joe had to use the head.” Explanations such as this will not fly; you will have to do it all over. Enter the Impound directly from the return roads.
I would preface it with: "Drive directly to impound from the return road."

Bob,
Thanks. As mentioned in a post by Lynda the qualifying lane is the right hand lane you normally use to approach lands end. You will be held there by Lynda and her crew until opening time.
Dean,
Thanks to you too. The phrasing you mention is in the sections of the rulebook I noted.
All,
I was sent a PM asking about how the gas tanks are sealed.
You will go to the ERC station with an empty tank, a line off the bottom would be good if convenient.
They will add the quantity of gasoline you require and seal the tank with tape. Nail polish will be applied to ensure the tape is not lifted. They will also initial and date the tape.
Keep the questions coming,

Dan has failed to mention that ALL owners and drivers of qualified cars are to make sure they take up all the space they want. Make sure you bring in all your friends cars and trucks to take up the space. Set up a "hospitality" tent and spread your joy to all around you. Remember the most important thing is it's all about YOU............................................ :?
How's that Dan.........................?

Dan, thanks for a most excellent tutorial.

Thats good JD.
In reality there is limited room in the impound area. Please keep vehicles to a minimum. In the AM you can leave your ground tarp, tools, jack, etc. in place. They must be removed by 10 AM.
DO NOT leave any vehicles, yours or your Brother-in-Law's rental in the impound. It will get towed when I need the space.

"You must use a ground tarp while in the Impound. Make sure you purchase a spare before leaving home."
Here's a real opportunity for someone who needs a guaranteed Impound tarp. Approximately 10x20, 10 years old, used infrequently, but has delivered a record back-up run five consecutive times. Blue, in case you care. Never been used for Open records. Reason for selling -- can't imagine needing it again. $100, delivery to SpeedWeek included.

I just bought a similiar one at Harbor Freight for $2.49. I should have waited.

Sorry, Dan, you should have waited. Just trying to sell a little bit of history. If I get more than one request, thanx for the tip on where I can get back-up merchandise (to be aged on the salt before delivery).

If you want patina look in the dumpsters at the end of the week.

I woke up this morning with the thought that I missed one of the most important items on my list.
When you come to Impound please bring the timing slip and the Entry Form with you at check in.
The Entry Form is a two part page, the inspection form is the hard card portion. The pages are separated and the enrty part returned to you when you get you entry package.

Wow, I am glad I have been perusing the pages! Glad I picked up an extra ground tarp last night, got one for the generator and thought a second would be good....... if I'm lucky enough to qualify looks like I'll need one for impound too. My cheering secion is under the impression on specific crew is allowed in impound, they can stand outside "the line" and can view and talk. Should I bring an extra piece of plywood for under my rear stand just in case also?

Not needed unless the salt is very soft and at this point we look ok.
All,
Please excuse my spelling in the previous post. I was in a rush to get it in writing that I tried a two finger typing method. I tend to walk from one room to another and forget what I was in search of.
