Here's the update: Rocky is in the bike here at the pit end. He's going to try a two-way run starting at this end. Scott Horner's team is ready to run when the course is clear. Poteet and Main are now arriving at the far end to await their turn to make a N/A run. That's the update. Wind is all over the place -- but not too strong.
Nope -- Rocky isn't going to run now. Back to you, Scott/Heads Up.
We'll look forward to seeing you Thursday, Dick. Nancy and I will be here through Friday afternoon -- l;eaving in time to get to SLC by bedtime for an early AM flight to our house for a week or so - then back here. Too bad -- we'll miss the lawnmower event.
Yesterday - remember the Spectre's run that Amir Rosenbaum had to abort? Here's what started the chain of events.
The story goes: For some reason the cable from the alternator overheated, which made a red light show on the dash. Amir had just shifted into fifth -- saw the light. Lifted and then put in the clutch, at which time the motor burped a few tablespoons of oil through the turbo. He coasted for a short time thinking about whether he should pull the chute, keep coasting, pull the fire bottle switch. Pulled the chute, and that ended the story.
Here's Nancy sitting with Elmo Rodge, enjoying the ambiance of the Top Speed Shootout 2010:
Finally for this post -- Scott Horner's bike (they didn't tell me if it's Scott or Jamie riding) has just left the pit. They'll go to about the 2 mile and make a run. Charlie and Drew Gatewood are standing by to "officiate" on the run. I'll get you reports as they come in.
No word on when the Ack bike will run -- Mike Akatiff gave Scott the go-ahead to run the course right now.
