Hi, Dan - thanks for posting up on this topic.
Let me soap box a minute.
As a non-SCTA club member of BNI, I find myself frustrated in the lack of information that gets brought to the fore by the clubs.
A lot of what happens at El Mirage seems to have a direct effect on those of us who compete only at Bonneville.
Given the outsized influence that SCTA Club competitors have over an international event such as Speedweek, I think BNI competitors such as mtiberio and myself would be grateful for some insight into the discussions and insights that affect those who either can't be effectively involved in an SCTA club or simply choose not to be.
That said, I get it. They're volunteer organizations, and we all have lives outside of racing. If the clubs can't or won't post up on the Straightaway News, or landracing.com, or maintain an information feed on Facebook, be it a time issue, or a lack of a volunteer to make it happen, or even if it's simply the need to keep discussions out of public or prying eyes, that's their prerogative.
But as an example, a few months ago, you brought up in this forum a possible change to the GT class. I was grateful for that, and while I have no say in the running of the clubs that oversee the rules, as a BNI member, I was at least able to fill out the rule-change sheet, argue against the change, and present my concerns.
Had you not brought this potential change to the fore, I'd have likely been blindsided as to any potential change in my class, and I thank you for that information.
I think a lot of us who race only at Bonneville would appreciate being kept in the loop.
