I apologize it has been so long since I updated all of you. We have been on the salt the last two days beginning our track prep. We will be using courses that parallel the tracks one and two used during Speedweek. Grooming on both is coming along nicely. Our long course is smooth and hard for the full five miles. After the five, it gets a little bumpy. Our short course will be smooth and hard for all four and a half miles.
The weather has been nice but the sky is still quite smokey.
To my knowledge there will not be anyone here to recertify fire bottles.
We are looking forward to a fast and safe World of Speed. See you in a few days.

I have recently driven in from Nova Scotia and want to run my two bikes but I don't think there is time to mail in my registrations.  Can I re-join USFRA and register at the event?

Yes, you can enter at the event, but the entry fee will be $700 (vice $530), plus $50 for USFRA membership.

Thanks, Jeff.  I think the discount for early registration was over long ago, in any case. But living in Canada and not knowing if I could even get into the U.S. precluded any chance of early registration.  We drive to Colorado, so my wife and I chanced it on the 22nd of August.  They let us in only because we are American citizens.  Trying to get the bikes ready (some parts had to be replaced due to salt and corrosion) has/is a challenge, but I think I'll make it.

Sparky has Mag issues - there is an oxy-whatsit in there somewhere.

Maybe try reading a different mag - one with car pictures in it?

Hope you get it sorted - wish we were there, again, sigh.
A Bonneville Lakester please barman.

Well, if they were coming, I'd think they'd already be here - but they're not.  We only inspected 5 cars today:  the Nish and Lessman streamliners, Hurley's 57 Chevy AA/GCC, a 150-Club MazdaSpeed 3, and a 130-Club VW Beetle.  I only saw one or two bikes, plus a couple of 130-Club Vespa's.  It's pretty hazy from all the smoke - can't see Floating Island at all, even from Tech.  I imagine we'll be busier tomorrow, but it could be a light turnout.  Salt seems about the same as it was at Speedweek - really good!
