Just goes to show folks, never assume anything. Learned that along time ago. Always best to go to the source if you can to get the real story. Thanks for the update.

Not meaning to be a smartass here but.  Who filled in the holes?
Get off the stove Grandad.  You're too old to be riding the range.

Dont know the answer as to who filled them in, but I read on another site that the Tow Truck Co. had a couple of loads of Salt brought in.

Alright read Mike's letter posted by desotoman, I'll cut some slack to Boyd, the president and crew, but still gonna bash the NASCAR guys
for awhile.

As of World of Speed -- NOBODY had filled in the holes, and I've got photos to prove it.  I was going to post them here, but resizing them to fit the restrictions of the attachments part of the site is a minor chore I elected to not do.  But the holes were (maybe ARE) still there.  I'll letcha know soon -- World Finals is a week away. . .

That $1000 donation to Save the Salt would buy a lot of shovels!

It may be a good idea to leave those holes in the salt for awhile to remind people of what can happen if you don't pay close attention to what is going on.  Some of us that have been going for awhile have had to use shovels and it is not FUN at all.  Bster

Boyd's people only did a minor part of the damage, the towing company's did the new drainage ditch and didn't learn much from the first truck to get stuck. The word I heard was salt is being brought in from across the road to back fill the damaged area. Don't know who's paying for it.

 :-D

A guy driving down the freeway gets into a wreck because they were talking on the phone and not paying attention.

3 other cars get rear ended because they slowed down to look at it.

Traffic is backed up for hours....few people hurt....many cars broken.
(I see this everyday)

All I am saying is that if the person on the phone was paying attention the whole mess could of been avoided.

On second thought that is not really a fair comparison.....I could see how someone....especially if they were new to the salt...would not know that there is the possibility that that could happen.
Truth is....I bet before I get that AA license I will have done something equally as stupid.....I just hope that no one sees it and porkpie looses the pics!

I announced it several times to stay clear of the soft coned off area on the return road. It was also announced on the radio station used on the salt. The answer is keep your CB radio on at all times, don't squelch it down so you can't hear it unless you are near the announcer. It's how we get the word out to all people. It's critical to all so everyone knows whats going on.  :?
