Title: Vintage class entry
Post by: dwarner on March 31, 2006, 09:37:53 AM
Not being a bike family Joanie sent me this picture. The builder does NOT belong to either of our families. This is real vintage, like Fred Flintstone.

I am expected to have something funny to say , but I am just the straight man for the MC rule book author.
That bike is the famous Sidewinder's project bike of the future with no future.
The rider was to have been featured but he is curled up on the floor in the back
of the Short Bus and says "People are picking on me". .

What happens when one can't weld, you do it another way. At least it could be used for fire wood at a cold Oct. lakes meet,

The additional fire proofing measures under development in SCTA
are clearly indicated by the bike design of their future.

Seem's to fit the rule book. Lets see, light, horn, shocks on sprung wheels... And if it won't pass tech you just grab the saw, a couple 2x4's & some screws...
Splinters could be a worry at speed though...
I crack myself up sometimes...

Could be a true case of "whittling away at the record."

The wood looks suspiciously new to qualify as vintage.  Also I have my doubts that the frame and engine manufacturer are one and the same.   Maybe it should run in comp coupe seeing that its wooden.

It calls for nuts on the lag bolts.
I think I see a pattern but dems da rules.
If the rider was in the shot, you would see why they call him the "PAN HEAD".

I guess you guys never saw the real lakester that seated 6 as it motored around El mirage looking a lot like a converted wooden canoe.
When Kent gets done with the chicken wire and plaster, that bike will be really swishy.

The MC displayed is the prototype for the  SCTA "Generica" bike they are developing
that is only going to be "HALFAST" anyway.
The use of local materials to match the skills of the locals is the ultimate objective.
They are striving to take only 1 step back at a time so as to not be noticed.
Sometimes they trip up and take 2 or 3 but if the
bikers don't speak up they are harmless.

The new prototype will feature Willow rather than Fir for the front forks, thereby negating the need for suspension.  The driver, obviously, Mr. Doug Fir..................

Willow Meana has been selected because she presents a smaller , more aerodynamic package and she eats less.

That'd depend on how much "stick" you gave it....
BTW Jack , is Willow Meana the phenomenal Phillo's sister??
Title: YA
Post by: JackD on April 02, 2006, 12:17:36 AM
Ya , it is the sister. For a long time Willow was Willard the brother until a motor mishap made him a girl.

I taught them everything they know and still they manage to go faster.
They did learn how to piss off SCTA and that is something anyway.

The good thing is each bike can provide multipal splints, add a roll of duct tape and you have it covered.

....interesting.....duck tape can be used to cover quacks in wood , is this somehow related to splint car racing ?.....FMD , is it over yet?...lets keep it on the straight and marrow. One last thing no-one mentioned the "forks"......
Title: Vintage class entry
Post by: Nortonist 592 on April 03, 2006, 01:28:34 AM
No one mentioned the forks because the are leading link type forks.  Connected at the rear of the links.  They are known as "Earles" leading link forks.  Named after its inventor.  Such a name becomes more significant seeing that the forks are wooden.
Title: Earles
Post by: JackD on April 03, 2006, 01:42:40 AM
The front forks are un-remarkable because they vary little from the original design.
They are rather British but BMW was the first to try and sell them to anybody in large amounts.
